New Player What kind of game?
I am on the ship at the beginning taking on droids and getting to the hangar or wherever, reading the ships computers and talking to the jedi and switching between droid and jedi dude.

Is this game ever a sandbox game?
Like is there a free roam type of play or is it all do this task, do that task, how do you talk to this person?
Do this task etc etc?

I am not knocking the game its a good game liking the interface so far and figuring out what to do makes it a nice change from the Skyrim 'now go here because the arrow is telling you everything game' .

Without spoilers, is it a rails adventure game or is there a point where you do end up free roam ?

After the prologue and the first story part, youll get acess to a few planets you can freely explore, do sidequests and story. The areas on the planets though are still small and youll get a lot of loadingscreens. Dont expect skyrim open world and factions and so on.

peragus is basically an extended tutorial section, the game was released unfinished and peragus lacks polish.

once you leave peragus you end up on telos, which is the mandatory first planet, and where the game starts in proper. the game is never an open world sandbox cancer.

I would recommend the restoration project, maybe even the additional droid planet though thats....rather unfinished as well. it at least made the ending semi coherent.

anyways after telos events which is an entire planet with dialog, you get your ship back and you can go to any of the 4 planets (or back to telos for whatever reason)
Nar shadaa, Dantoine, korriban, and onderon.

the proper order is nar shadaa or dantoine, then onderon korriban then onderon final.

whichever one you do first is apt to be difficult but then you'll hit level 15 get a prestige class allowing you to jump to 16 and unlocking the endgame crafting recipes for your light sabers. (and actually getting light sabers)

restoration project really revamps Nar Shadaa, probably makes it more difficult.

people like to go to nar shadaa first because it allows you to turn companions into jedi once they reach high enough influence.

I like to go to dantooine first because I find it easier to get my lightsaber. I could be wrong about that. point is you can choose the order of the planets to visit after leaving telos.

but its not open world or sandbox.
Once you finish Telos you get the "open world" part of the game where you can travel between 4 different planets.

Would I have to do Nar Shadaa first in order to make Atton and Mira into Jedi? It was a very long time ago since I played the game.

Yes. You should be able to make Atton into a Jedi by halfway through the planet, after being approached by two twilek guys who tell you about Atton you can then confront him and unlock that dialog.

Mira you don't actually get her into your party til the end of the planet but you can get all the influence with her in a single conversation and then take her to the main pit area in nar shadaa to turn her into a Jedi.
