Can you increase it? Sure - Easy to do in seconds with the KSE savegame editor.
it's called KSE (kotor savegame editor) works for both 1 & 2 but won't find kotor 2 saves on its own and you need to move your saves from the cloudsaves->usernumber map to the saves map first.
Well for the non force sensitives (droids, mandelore, hanharr) you can get stat bonusses.
And making your buddies jedi is very useful.
i blame the AI.
Note that the way Steam Workshop works with KOTOR 2 is a little weird, so if you have TSLRCM installed, you need to put the files for Remote Tells Influence into the override folder for TSLRCM, not the main KOTOR 2 folder (as explained here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=488641307)
