Half screen issue
Hey there folks, I was wondering if anyone is having this issue also? I begin the game and its just half a screen of the image but if I scroll over the areas where the options are, it selects them. I'm not very computer savvy and I'm just trying to play a nostalgic game, care to help an older guy out?

So you cant see the entire screen?if i understand what you are describing, then try this. Navigate to your Steam folder.
Steam\steamapps\common\Knights of the Old Republic II

In the Knights of the old republic folder scroll down to the swkotor2.exe file and right click...then click Properties...then click the Compatability Tab and check the box beside Disable display scaling on high DPI settings.
Click APPLY

I have the same problem, except I only see a smoky bar at the top 10-ish% of my screen in the main menu. Disable display scaling on high DPI settings did not fix the issue for me.

My system:
Windows 10 Pro 64bit
Intel i7 4790K 4.00GHz
32 GB RAM
2x GeForce GTX 980 in SLI (driver version 355.82)
Current Resolution: 2560 x 1440, 144Hz

Try a display setting @ 60Hz or below. The graphics engine on this game tends towards weird glitches at >60Hz.

Same problem here.
The start screen (New Game, Options etc.) is shifted 50% up. At the highest point I can only read options. Anything above that is above the screen.

"Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" doesn't work.
Current Resolution: 1920 x 1080, 60Hz
Windows 7 64 bit

Can someone please help me? I would really like to play the game again.

Problem solved: I pressed the ESC key. Suddenly the picture was short black and then everything was where it should be.

Sorry I forgot that I posed this, I changed the settings to <60Hz and I fixed the resolution and it was fixed. Thank you guys for your help

Finally fixed it:

1. Set my desktop resolution to 1080p 60Hz.
2. Started the game (with "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" on). Menus were still rendered above screen, but at least I saw more of the menu now.
3. Managed to get into options and change resolution to 1080p 85Hz. (I could now see the entire screen).
4. Exited the game and brought my desktop resolution back up to 2560 x 1440, 144Hz.
5. Entered the game again and changed ingame resolution to 2560 x 1440, 85Hz.

So how did you change the in-game resolution? Is that actually in the KOTOR II gameplay or on my computer?

If you can't get to setting things in game:

swkotor2.ini can be opened with a simple text editor like notepad, it is located in a folder like:
[your drive]:\[your steam folder]\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Knights of the Old Republic II

Set your resolution below the header [Graphics Options], some other values could help too, not sure for your case. These are some of mine:

RefreshRate=60
Height=1080
Width=1920
V-Sync=1

Thanks for the help! I was able to change the settings, but I still have the same problem (http://imgur.com/a/2G9OB). When I navigate to the in screen display options it doesn't even give me any options, they are all blank. KOTOR II dev support is trying to replicate the issue, but their customer support doesn't seem know what's going on either.

None of the fixes listed helped me. My problem was that the top half of the screen was off the display, someone said theirs' was to the left, well, same idea, mine just was up instead of over. My fix was pretty simple: alt+enter, then alt+enter again. It makes the game go from fullscreen to windowed mode, then do it again to go back into fullscreen mode. A slight annoyance to have to do every time I load the game, but at least now it works.

I think my problem was similar. The game made a window and used only part of that, so the game was small and pushed to the upper left. Setting the resolution to the largest size made it full screen. I was able to get full screen at the second largest resolution too, but not at anything smaller. The type is smaller than I would like during dialogues etc., but it's playable.
