Influence gain cheat?
Is there a way to cheat influence? I loathe the fact that I have to influence some of my companions by doing acts of a different alignment than I actually follow (and I want to influence them to..)

KotOR Save Game Editor is the easiest way.

Losing influence is just as good a gaining influence. Just make sure you stick to one or the other with each character to unlock all their story and the ability to train them. Generally this is acheived by just staying true to your character and personality.

Although you can't see it anywhere in the game, influence is just like the light/dark side bar. It starts in the middle for every character you meet and it can go high or low, you just need to hit the bottom or the top.

Personally, I find it to be enjoyably manipulative to swerve off the Dark/Light path occasionally.

Take a Dark Side playthrough for instance. I'll be a nice fella, helping people out with the occasional slip to the Dark Side, like helping the smuggling ring on Telos for example. I'll do Nar Shadaa right out of the gate and grab Mira. I get all my companions influence up high, complimenting them, listening to their advice and then I train them to be happy Jedi... then I fall utterly and completely to the Dark Side and drag them all kicking and screaming with me.

Palpatine didn't get to be Emperor by being full on evil. He manipulated, persuaded and made allowances when it served his ends or it didn't matter anyway. That's why they call it being "seduced" by the Dark Side. :D

For a Light Side playthrough... what's a murder here and there to make HK-47 happy? haha

I wish this game gave more lying options. Like instances where you gain light side points for an influence gain it could have given the same option but it's a lie so you gain influence with the character, but you get dark side points.
