Dxun math puzzle is Glitched
So i encountered that ancient terminal that asks you to enter the operators in order to complete an equation and access a cache. Having taken a couple of minutes to think about it, i figured out that the correct equation was (6 * 2) - 8 + 9 * 1 = 13, at which point i entered the operators, powered up the terminal, and was told my answer was incorrect. Obviously i was confused since, no, that answer *is* correct, so i Googled it, and found that people were saying my exact answer was the correct one, and that it would also work if the final operator divided by one instead, so i tried both just to make sure, and no, the game keeps insisting i'm incorrect. I can only assume something broke somewhere here. Is there anything that can be done? Since it would be a shame to miss a cache because apparently the game can't get its own math right....

At worst, does anyone know what's in that box so i can know what i'd have to miss out on thanks to this game being glitchy?

I think it's divided by 1 on the end. (6*2) - 8 + 9 / 1 = 13

It's just a random crystal or two, sometimes a good one so worth doing.

This puzzle has the missing qualifier that you should use each operator only once to get the accepted solution.

Randomized loot varies depending on your level. I think it's around level 25 that the loot becomes worth it.

As i mentioned in my post though, i already tried (6 * 2) - 8 + 9 / 1 = 13 as well, and that didn't work either.

Did you make a mistake and then logged out of the terminal to restart before submitting your full answer? If so, then then this is what happened. The game registers only your first input to that equation and doesn't overwrite it if you log out of the terminal to try again, meaning it keeps your mistakes even if you reset it. All I can say to you is that I hope you saved before accessing that terminal, because that is the only fix I know. It's a bug I encountered as well while playing that area.

Yknow, while I'm fairly certain I quicksaved before I ever touched the terminal and then quickloaded after every failed attempt, I'm not totally sure I didn't activate it first, realise it may be a pain in the ass, back out, and then quicksave, so you may have identified the problem.

When I return to that area on my dark side run (if I make it that far), then I'll make absolutely certain to save before even touching the terminal, so thanks for that tip.

DXUN: ANCIENT TERMINAL CODE – BUG
One of the ancient terminals on Dxun has a dialog that asks you put in the arithmetic operators for an equation. The trouble is, if you input the wrong operator and later choose to leave the terminal alone, too bad! A local boolean gets set and there's no way to reset it. So even if you come back later and put in the right answer... boom!
FIX
Download Kotor Tool and DLGEditor. Extract puzz_se.dlg from 411DXN_dlg.erf using Kotor Tool. Open it up it DLGEditor and on the first Entry, input:

[Script #1:] a_local_reset [P1:] 50

Save this in your Override folder.

I know I shouldn't encourage it, but am giving you an award for your advanced necrology.
I was literally dumbfounded to see (no matter how accurate or appropriate) a response to an ancient post so late as to be comical.
But it is true. So, many thanks.

HelloHalo Jun 30, 2024 @ 8:26pm
The equation you provided is: (6 2) - 8 + 9 1 = 13

Let’s solve it step by step:

(6 * 2) = 12
12 - 8 = 4
9 * 1 = 9
Finally, adding the results: 4 + 9 = 13
It seems like you have solved the equation correctly, and the answer should indeed be 13 based on the provided equation. If the game is not accepting this answer despite multiple attempts, it might be a glitch in the game that needs to be addressed by the game developers.

You are correct! I had to scour through like 5 sites' forums to find the answer on the 3rd page of Google search, so I went back to said forums and replied the actual answer, so it'd be that much easier for others to find 🙂
