Rodian death blades; a rip-off?
I've played the game SWKOTOR 2 and SWKOTOR 1 both since I was a little kid when they first came out. Now I'm re living these epic adventures for old times sake! I've noticed somethings that are a bit strange in the game, particularly the swords. I've noticed the Rodian death blade costs about 3,000 Credits, but I noticed that when wielding it, not only do vanilla vibroswords do more damage, my own hands and feet do even more! Are they just a scam? Is it just for lore's sake? I don't know. It only does about 3-9 damage I think, and can't be upgraded. The only noteworthy thing it says is something like "damage attribute constitution DC 10", but what does that mean?! DC I think stands for Damage Class? I don't know. It also says the same thing but with wisdom and DC 14 I think, but they are still useless. I have used it quite a bit, and am regretting my purchase. The only thing I think it is useful for is the attack +1, but I could just sell it and use the money to beef up my vibrosword and have a 5x more powerful weapon! And as we all know; upgrades are your friend in this game. Could someone please help me understand the value in this blade. I have similar complaints about the rykki blades and Twi'lek spinning blades, as they seem to be the same. At least the rykki blades you can upgrade, but what gives?

1) NEVER buy weapons - you can find/make all you need.

2) Some weapons are crap, others are good. This is a RPG so some are just for flavour.

3) If you go down the two weapon wielding route it can sometimes be difficult to find a decent offhand weapon.

4) Max upgraded Ryyk blades are amongst the best melee weapons in the game ( but you need high skills to be able to make the best edge upgrades). Play DS, give a pair to the mad wookie and watch him carve the turkeys.

5) Twi'lek spinning blades (there are 4 to be had) can be broken down for as many as 500 components each - that's what they are good for.

Thank you for your input. I will keep these things in mind. I wasn't sure if selling them/breaking them down was the right thing to do because of their value. Generally I'm hesitent to sell/trade/breakdown any extreemely valuble things because I'm afraid I'll regret it later.

Heh, nobody actually answered your question. the Con and Wis and damage DC 10 is simple enough. The target attacked with the sword has to make a Difficulty Class 10+ save (I'd assume the con save is a Fortitude save, the wis save is a will save.) or they loose 1 point of the attribute for a period (supposedly 10 rounds of combat) each time you hit, and it's cumulative. Since each of those saves uses the attribute they are losing as part of the save the save gets more difficult the more that attribute is reduced. Sorry for kibitzing 8 years later, but somebody else might be searching on this too, so an answer might help them.

I will also add:
A weapon that lowers the opponent's Con would be extremely useful. It is a pity that the DC 14 is ridiculously low and there is probably no opponent in the game who would not resist it. And that makes this sword useless.
