What factors decide if you get Light/Dark Side ending?
My first playthough was on the Dark Side culminating in the appropriate ending for the game. However, my second playthough on the Light Side finished with the exact same Dark Side ending.

From what I've read the ending is determined by alignment alone, unlike the previous game where it was a defined decision at one set interval of events.

So, what am I missing here? I guess the real question is at what point does the game decide which ending will play out and what other factors contribute to it?

Some help would be nice so I don't run into the same problem again on my third playthough. Thanks.

As far as I recall, the only difference between the Light Side and Dark Side endings is whether or not the planet blows up, so you wouldn't really be missing anything.

I know that the biggest difference between the paths themselves is that Light Siders spare the Jedi and Kreia kills them and Dark Siders kill them.

As far as the ending goes...I supposed it would depend on your final dialogue choices with Kreia. One of the last choices is "Rest Kreia. Your time here is ended," and she just dies before the cutscene where Malachor V is destroyed and the Ebon Hawk flies off. I think if you select one that says something like, "Time to die old woman" (not sure if it's exactly that) then once Kreia dies you say something like "Now we shall see if Malachor V accepts your body," and there's a different shot of Kreia being tossed in to the core and then next scene just shows the camera pulling away from the core until it pans around and shows the Unknow Regions.

Did you use the same dialogue both times?

With TSLRCM Remote's fate also influences the ending.

With Kreia I selected both dialog options, one on each playthrough, but both ended with the Ebon Hawks destruction and the camera panning out into the Unknown Region.

Both playthroughs the remaining Jedi attacked me during the meeting on Dantooine. So I take it that is the point of decision then, depending on who actually strikes the Jedi Masters down.

Also, is there any way to save Atton or is he destined to perish no matter what choices one makes.

How so? I thought if the remote gets destroyed it just prompts you to reload a save.

He's talking about at the end of that sequence, whether Goto manages to stop Remote or if HK-47 manages to stop Goto from interfering.

My first playthrough G0-T0 was destroyed by HK-47. Second playthrough HK-47 was not present. Nothing changed that I could see.

I believe he survives if you defeat dark scion with Atton.

He does, for both Dark and Light Side.
