Question about Dantooine and their bias
Minor spoilers? Im replaying the game for the first time in years and I'm visiting dantooine as my 2nd planet. I already have a lightsaber for myself since I did nar shaddaa first. Upon exiting the ebon hawk tho the lady greeter recognizes that you're a jedi because of it which doesn't seem like a huge deal, i was able to persuade her to still answer my questions, but the mechanic guy runs off either when I approach him or when i fix the droid. I understand that I could just NOT have my saber equipped and nobody would be the wiser for the most part, but the problem is....why should I have to hide myself? Or I guess what my questions is, does it matter if i hide my identity here or not? I have really high persuade and i have dominate mind, I'm playing light side if it's relevant but I just don't feel like I should have to hide who I am. When the mechanic notices you, it starts something in your quest journal saying "you revealed your identity to the wrong person" or something along those lines. Does it matter tho in the long run?

Nah it's not a huge deal. In the grand scheme of things the only thing it changes is a conversation you can have with the mechanic (he refuses to speak to jedi). The quest log entry thing is more roleplaying flavor than any real reference, jedi are expected to be a little more... subtle.... discreet.

The main issues at hand in this interaction are as follows:
1) The locals feel (however wrongly) that the Jedi abandoned them, and didn't do much to help them when they were around
2) There is a bounty on jedi, so everyone is either thinking about their credit balance or weighing the risks of being in the area when the bounty hunters show up
3) The local scavengers don't want a jedi to interfere in their business of looting jedi artifacts from the academy

I mean, to be fair tho, the Jedi didn’t really help out. They left the mandalorian raiders, the kath hounds, and the Matale-Sandral feud for Revan to solve and didn’t get anywhere else. They also didn’t really help to rebuild Dantooine (even for valid reasons, the settlers wouldn’t know otherwise).

Revan helping was the Jedi helping. He was doing it on behalf of the council, whether he felt that way or not.
