KSE Help
I've decided to mess around with KSE to work around another issue I'm having in the game, namely that, while having Handmaiden, if I try to advance Master Vrook's storyline by entering the room with Disciple, Disciple will force a conversation after which he joins the party and overwrites Handmaiden.

I tried to advance the quest line one step in my search for Vrook such that I'm at the step where I've discovered the book/journal/item in Disciple's room, but when I got to the Kinrath cave - which I'd already cleared some from previous exploring - he's not where I think he should be.

Am I missing something or is the next step of the quest not freeing Vrook from the Kinrath cave or is there something else going on?

Thanks, in advance, for anyone who can offer any help~

I don't know anything about using KSE but it is not a problem to explore the side area first before finding the datapad in the Disciple room. If the quest triggers properly then back in the Kinrath cave you should find Vrook in the force cage and a group of mercenaries in the side area. If it is empty something is missing to trigger that quest.

After you use KSE does your journal update to say you need to rescue Vrook from the Kinrath cave?

Well, the main issue is that before you can reach the book/item in the same room with Disciple, he will *always* trigger a conversation regardless of how hard you try to skirt around him. This also means that, by the end of the conversation, he's replaced Handmaiden with himself so even if you can get to the item after the conversation, it's pointless b/c you've lost Handmaiden at that point.

I didn't think this would be an issue with the Handmaiden for Females mod, but apparently, it is. My solution was an attempt at duplicating the gamefaqs user who simply moved the quest to the next step with KSE. I've done that, but unfortunately, there is no Vrook in the Kinrath cave unless I need to advance it, maybe, two steps.

I suppose it's also possible that the game is seeing if I have the appropriate quest item/journal in my inventory and is not triggering it without it or won't trigger is solely on the basis of advancing the quest one step. I didn't look closely to see if advancing the quest one step would automatically deposit the item in my inventory or if I needed to do that manually, also.

You do realise the issue is still the same, it works fine in H4F, but TSLRCM overwrote it when it got patched with 1.8.5.
Got the files of my old PC now, but will be busy for a few more days, but will update H4F before the next weekend.

Right, I get that part. That H4F works, but 1.8.5 overwrites it.

The part I'm confused is that, as I try to use KSE to jump the questline ahead one step (so that I can skip the part where I have to pick up the item from the room with Disciple), KSE doesn't seem to be working, either.

I assumed that if I skipped the part where I had to pick up the item from Disciple's room, thereby skipping the conversation that replaces Handmaiden, altogether, then I could just go to the next step of the quest which is to free Vrook from the Kinrath cave... But, he isn't there.

So, something's wrong with KSE or there's something I'm not understanding.

Do you just skip the questentry (it doesn't work that way) or properly increment a global?

So, KSE has a quest tree menu that lists all the quests a character has. In this case, I open my latest save game, go to the appropriate quest and click on it. Clicking on it will display its details on the right hand side of the window (while continuing to display the file tree on the left).

There's a small window with the quest description, another window I don't recall atm, and a pulldown menu that advances the quest including forks in the questline. I simply advanced it one step to where I've supposedly found the quest item/journal of Master Vrook which I took to mean that he would spawn in the Kinrath caves b/c the next options and beyond are me having rescued Vrook, me having Master Vrook sent to some slave planet or some such, me having fought/killed Master Vrook and some other options.

I want to keep data manipulation with KSE to a minimum so I simply advanced the quest one step so I could skip the Disciple's room and conversation.

Aside from a few quests on Nar Shaaddaa the questlog really is just for the player, alterating it does nothing for the game, it doesn't use it.

Gah, you're right. I misread the gamefaqs user post. Apparently, he had to change a variable called "Vrook_status" or some such from 0 to 1 so that he appeared in the cave. Advancing the quest log had nothing to do with it.

This is what I get for not reading things through carefully!

Edit: Voila~ Vrook has spawned in the cave with the appropriate change! Only had time to check if he properly spawned, but I'm hoping this will take care of the issue. The location of his change was under a numerics tree and the folder was 610DAN
