What do with money in this game?
I was doing Onderoon quest and random soldier dropped Darth Malak armor. So I was like "what?" and went to check shops to find items of similiar value. Nothing groundbreaking, I mean, you find better stuff as loot. Not a big deal, but I remember that KOTOR 1 had this store from which you could buy powerful late game stuff. That's like only game play related advantage KOTOR 1 has, unless I missed some something

There's a lot of stores with very expensive gear (10k+), it's not just one store. I can't remember them all off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure the chick outside of dantooine Jedi conclave sells some high end stuff as one example. Honestly check every store you come across, some have some very rare and awesome gear.

Due to KOTOR 2's random loot system, in addition to its semi-randomized shops and quest rewards, credits have far less value than in the first game, especially since there's nothing like KOTOR 1's yavin dlc to spend tens of thousands of credits on exclusive baragwin gear.

(Not including vendors that sell droid parts, medical things, ammo, pazaak cards etc.)
I think this is a fairly complete list of where to buy gear:

Samhan Dobo – Telos, Citadel Station, Entertainment 081
Adum Larp – Dantooine, Khoonda
Daraala – Dantooine, Enclave Courtyard
Geeda – Nar Shaddaa, Refugee Landing Pad (Has more things after opening up trade routes)
Kodin – Nar Shaddaa, Refugee Landing Pad
Oondar – Nar Shaddaa, Refugee Landing Pad
Gegorran – Onderon, Merchant Quarter
Margar – Onderon, Iziz Spaceport
Kex – Dxun, Mandalorian Ruins

True, some have some randomized items, but there's also items that they will always have.

If they mention that a merchant has an item then that's where to get it.

Yeah. Those looters outside Jedi enclave had most useful stuff. Crystals were useful.

I thought so that shops also had different items. Its been some time when I played this, but on Telos, I was like "I remember these guys having much better gear last time."

Good old gamebanshee. Checked couple of things from there while playing this. Missed that page totally.

TBH, I don't buy much stuff anymore. Early on when I arrive at Citadel I go straight into the Dobo brothers shop and buy a suit of Zeisen Sha or Jal Shay armour that does not restrict force powers (which I can then use in the fight with the two mercs outside the cantina). I make a decent amount of cash by selling surplus Mando gear to Kex on Dxun (he usually pays the best prices for Mandalorian gear (don't buy from him as he also charges the highest prices).

I buy a few items if I specifically want them and they are not turning up as loot but you will acquire so much loot you will rarely need to actually pay for anything when it is easier to just go and slaughter a few of the losers who are too stupid to run.

I buy the Pacifist Module from Geeda as it still amuses me to listen to the dialogue from HK-47.

Incidentally, most shops are mostly random so save before the FIRST time you talk to a merchant. Don't like the stock? Just reload your save and try again. Most of the stock will change.

Pacifist Module is a must. Always buy it.

I keep that save/reload trick next time when playing this. I usually buy every health item and stim for the late game. And ion grenades, all droid stuff, since HK factory is such a pain.
