My favourite is the Sith Tremor Sword paired with one of the better vibroblades.

So if you're going with a single melee weapon character, the Sith Tremor sword is one of two best melee weapons in the game. In regards to upgrades, for the cell I would recommend either the Sonic Discharge Cell Mark III (to increase the base sonic damage) or Vibration Cell Mark IV (extra +2-16 Slashing damage). The Superior Zabrak Grip is nice for the added +1-8 slashing damage on top of a +3 to your attack modifier (it also gives you a -1 to your defense bonus, but there are armor mods that can cancel that out). For the edge, the Quadranium Edge is the best option as it gives a +2-12 slashing damage bonus.
The Echani Vibrosword is the other option, and just use the same upgrades as you would for the Sith Tremor Sword. You could also replace the edge with the Ostrine Edge upgrade, which gives the Echani and extra +2-16 cold damage and a resistance to fire.
The base stats on these two swords are essentially the same, the only difference is the Sith Tremor does an extra +3 Sonic damage and the Echani does +2 cold.
Hopefully this helps you a bit, brother.

Thank you both for your comments. I have never tried sonic upgrades on anything. Will give it a shot. is Keen worth it for melee weapons?

Keen is worth it on ANY weapon that has additional upgrades to increase critical damage. What "Keen" does is modify your critical range from 20-20 (i.e. the system rolls for your attack and gets a base value of 20) to 19-20. Now if the system rolls a base value of 19 or 20 for your attack (before any modifiers), it will count as a critical hit and do bonus damage.
