But I don't think it's relevant early on. Just go with what you get or can buy, and upgrade things. You don't really need good stuff at the beginning, I never thought about restarting for that reason.
I'm trying to play the same character the same way, not having the same gear really sets off my OCD so I'll prob keep at it.
if you want good random drops you should level up using the tedious mine setting glitch.
T3-M4 is the fastest for that.
if you you want to reroll loot the first place I'd bother rerolling loot is the shop on telos. that shop can carry some pretty good items.
including
Ossus Keeper robes
Mandalorian rippers
Universal +2 all stats implants
+4 all skills implants
Jay Shey mentor Armor.
other things. stuff that won't drop in game until you are close to level 30.
But yeah, just craft 30 mines, have T3-M4 tag demolition skill and level it up.
set 15 mines in an area, move to a different area, set 15 minutes. move back to the first area, disable 15 mines and set 15 mines, return to the second area, repeat until you are the level you desire
For a Male Character Jay Shey initiate robes suck though. the Handmaiden gives you a talk that gives your WIS score to AC. End of the campaign my Male Jedi is at 67 defense with force enlightenment active. vs 43 with the Jay Shey advisor robes.
lots of great info there, cheers bud. I'm about to move onto telos. (got a Jedi Knight Robe/Republic Blaster from crew quarters, but it'd been almost 2 hours of trying. I'm guessing I got mad lucky first time around with that Initiate Armor.)
Doing LS char so prob wont have much money to buy stuff (i know telos costs +4500 credits just to complete, Slave+Droid Pass) but I'll make sure to save before I enter the entertainment district incase I can return later.
Merchant inventories are set when you first speak to them so save, talk to them and reload if you don't like what they have will change their stock.
Even LS you should turn a profit on Telos. When playing pazaak you can generally save and reload between matches if you lose at the game (exception is the woman in the Citadel Station cantina - you have to win 3 consecutive games without reloading to get her special card). You can get the cash for Opo Chano's droid credentials by asking the Ithorian leader for it.
nice thanks for the tip, trying to avoid walkthroughs (as to not ruin the story) but little nuggets like these are perfect.
was pretty sure merchant inventory got set when you entered the zone as well.
you should also change your key bindings for quicksave and quickload. because otherwise they are right next to each other which is incredibly stupid.
occasionally enemies spawn on that map, at that point their levels and inventory gets set, usually they spawn on the map when you first load the map. but sometimes enemies occur on the map after you do something.
either way I wouldn't bother rerolling loot for a specific item until you get to the merchants on telos. or have enough level to get the best loot from drops.
before that I'd just roll for money/components. You'll be fine in a typical jedi robe with +3 CON/regen modded in.
which is really sometimes you open a container and you get 200 credits, and sometimes you open the container and you get an item that sells for 16000 credits.
randomized loot. if I roll low and get too much garbage I'd load up a save outside the zone and try again.
but if you are running the Restoration mod particularly with the droid planet, you'll eventually be swimming in loot. the HK-50 driod encounters typically drop higher end droid pieces and the whole new droid planet is there.
Oh and word to the wise, your repair skill is used for getting components from items. if you have 20 or more repair the breakdown is 100% efficent. and there is no loss. seems to be more or less based on item value.
Treat injury is used for mines. I know using the restoration project it uses the party member's repair score. I don't know if it does in the regular game. haven't tried the steam release without the restoration project.
Components are mainly useful for making fully upgradable weapons really powerful.
The loot system starts to go fully into effect on Telos when the Peragus RNG is no longer used to surpress most drops.
