I don't know what you mean man. Best attribute use I generally consider strength basing it better than dex basing it.
but the core of it is getting the dual wield perks and the flurry perks.
Strength route: more damage
Dexterity route: more defense, requires Finesse perk, restricted by armor's max dexterity bonus(if I remember correctly).
Firstly, only characters with relatively high DEX should be using it with weapons. Then they have to have the Finesse feat to use their dexterity with lightsabers . The most obvious such character in this game is Visas. As her strength is relatively low it is a good option to take the feat for Finesse so her weapon use is based on DEX, not STR (it is almost essential for her). All others are either STR based or better with ranged weapons.
If you want to use a double blade or a dual wield a single and a short saber it is absolutely essential that you take at least the first two levels of the "two weapon fighting" feat. All three levels should be taken eventually. So you coul be committing four feat picks to these feats, plus another two or three to get the master level of whichever attack you favour.
As for the choice between Power attack, Crit strike and Flurry, Power attack is the weakest. It is particularly bad when fighting bosses as they will hit you and hit hard. The only character I choose power attack feats for is Handmaiden and then simply because it allows her to use one of the Gamorrean sets of gloves which allows her to do more damage in unarmed combat.
Critical strike is theoretically the most effective but you really need to have everything set up. Ie the character has the correct feats and the appropriate weapon upgrades and crystals.
I personally prefer Flurry. It is very nearly as good as Crit strike and does not require such precise setting up.
Apologies for going into such detail but so much is interrelated when setting up a character that you cannot consider any one aspect in isolation.
There are some guides online which give more detail on this.
as I recall. master flurry and master speed and master dual wielding is 5 attacks per round.
a double bladed weapon is 2-24 damage a single saber is 2-20 damage and a short saber is 2-16 damage.
so its 2 more average damage than the single saber or 4 more average damage than the short saber. whereas the single handed weapons have a 5% more chance of doing double damage
quick chunk of math shows the single weapons do more damage on average when you have 40 average damage. and 80 for the short sabers. otherwise the double sabers save you on components and crystals and are just superior.
what I'm saying is, I use the double bladed sabers, on like bao dur or visas or handmaiden or atton. they work just fine. the main character gets a long and short saber because its slightly better and he gets the extra expense.
That is basically what it comes down to. Obviously it also depends on what lightsabers you actually get. I have had games where I have received nothing but doubles.
My Exile always gets a single and a short (the extra crystals make a significant difference). Visas gets the same if possible. Kreia gets a single (or a short if I don't have a single available). Atton and Mira are primarily ranged weapon fighters so get doubles purely for use when forced into melee combat. Bao-dur doesn't get used much for combat so usually doesn't get a lightsaber but goes unarmed (I often don't even bother making him a jedi anyway). Handmaiden gets a double, mainly because I am running out of good lightsaber crystals by that point. Disciple gets a single and short if I can, otherwise a double.
Components are not an issue but finding enough worthwhile lightsaber crystals can be difficult. That (and simply what is available) is the main factor deciding what lightsaber type each character gets.
they can carry crystals with +2 WIS and +2 CHA and 1d10 cold damage. I think up to 3 copies. or other things if you are going for other things. but getting +2 Spell DC on your off hand on top of your main hand.... those +2 CHA with 1d10 cold damage crystals are really good. cuz the CHARNAME crystal doesn't give CHA so you use one on your main hand and one on your offhand and the +2 WIS on your offhand.
My current Run I've been lacking D-rank implants. Like I found a bunch of +6 all skills implants, lots of those. but usually I get some +3 physical stats implants (+3 STR/DEX/CON or the other three) or +2 all stats implants.
and not many +STR gloves.
but for sabers, I do tend to quicksave and load before getting the saber if I need a particular type and I always get a single saber for my first saber.
but kreia can just force lightning everything anyways.
