KOTOR 2 now has a runtime error, apparently.
While playing KOTOR 2 sometime ago, a glitch started to appear, stating that swkotor2.exe has "Requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way." This occurs whenever my character either interacts with a world object, interact with an NPC or even when I try to save.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times to no effect.

The list of things I've done so far:

1. Modifying the ini file to allow for windowed mode.
2. Disabling Shadows, Grass and Force Speed Effects.
3. Ran both a Steam and non-Steam version of TSLRCM.
4. Replace the Mss32.dll file in KOTOR 2 from KOTOR 1 (Doesn't work, by the way.)

I don't know what the root cause is, and I actually managed to play a modded KOTOR 2 game before it started to set in after Nar Shaddaa.

You didn't post system or OS specs, so I'm going to hazard a guess and say it's W10 being pants-on-head.

Yep. Enjoy your W10 experience, or upgrade your OS.

Or you could ignore the linux fanboy since I have the same version of Win 10 with no problem.

Possible fixes -

Verify game files through steam library (may load the default ini file).

Check if Nvidia have an updated graphics driver.

Try the Nvidia threaded optimisation fix near the start of this guide.

Thank you for the link. I'll be sure to check it out once I have the free time.

I have had this recently and none of these fixes worked. i figured out that Discord overlay and this game do not get along and by disabling it, along with steam overlay (although im pretty sure steam overlay is fine), i never see this error anymore. For those of you who have tried everything and deleted all your mods and reinstalled the game three times, or don't have an NVIDIA card/the ability to turn off threaded optimization, turn off any overlays and see if that fixes the issue for you.

For ref, im running the Aspyr version (the PC port of the macOS port of the PC port of an OG Xbox game lmao) on Windows 10, Ryzen 5 2600X, RX 6700XT, with 16 gbs of RAM

The Aspyr version is just an update to the original PC game. There was never a macOS port before Aspyr, and the Xbox game was developed under the same team as the PC game, so I also wouldn't consider KOTOR II a port of an Xbox game,
Thank you television foot discord overlay was the problem. running amd graphics card and cpu and it was discord all along. This app is such a piece of ♥♥♥♥ lmao. thank you again
