The only thing I buy from the brothers is a Jal Shey/Zeison Sha armour suit if I haven't found one by then (save before you talk to them, reload to change their stock). I probably buy less than a dozen items in the whole game.
I agree it isn't balanced as merchants stock is basically random but the vast majority of the items in game are of little or no use for your character or party members. Heavy armour is a case in point. Mandalore can't change his armour and everyone else, except Handmaiden/Disciple, has to burn a feat (or two) to wear it. Even then only Heavy Flex or Felenar armour allows a meaningful dexterity bonus so all the other heavy armour is problematic, particularly as all of it restricts force powers.
You can revisit Telos for a long time. If you help Lt Grenn lock up the black market one his brother gives you a discount and also buys your stuff for more. Ballistic shielding and armorweave are a good combo on armours and easy to make for the most part so you can outperform Mandalorian assault armour with any piece of garbage with a few upgrades.
Let's be straight, the game is so easy, even on the hardest difficulty, that you simply don't need to buy stuff and don't need the really good gear early on. I play using TSLRCM and M4-78 and generally finish the game with 50,000+ credits, 20,000+ components, all the gear my people are using fully upgraded and an inventory bursting with unused items I can't be bothered to sell or break down.
You can always go back to most of the merchants later anyway.
Invisible console? Call it what it is - cheat console. If you want to use it then fine, that's up to you. Just be aware you are taking out what little challenge the game really presents and don't tell yourself that you "beat" the game if you use the console to get items.
Or in Visas Marr's case, give her a con of 16 when I get her so that she can use implants. Her starting stats are soooo looooow
