that explains why
If u like to play a game like this, go and buy gansgters... this is still way's better then omerta...
I'd say it's worth picking up during the daily deal if you're interested in a more modern gangster sim game.
GameInformer gave it an awful review.
I bought it on Xbox for 60 euro(~78 USD) and while it is a pretty good game it was way too expensive for the content delivered, I would have paid maybe 15 euro(~20 USD) for it if I knew how shallow the game was at launch. But I got to suit myself this time, got caught on the hype a bit. :)
I havent played it in awhile and they promised some big updates to fix the game. I have no idea if they delivered.
EDIT:
Seems like they added a lot. Pretty much all that was really missing at launch and made the game shallow.
From store page:
"There have been several changes to Omerta - City of Gangsters in the most recent update:
New maps for multiplayer and sandbox modes
Enemy gang for sandbox mode, operating independently and taking over businesses - can both attack the player and be attacked by the player
Customizable game settings and goals for sandbox games
Economy overview panel for current businesses with their efficiency, profit, ect.
Visual representation of individual business types on the strategic map via icons
Additional difficulty setting and "Iron Man" option (saving progress in strategic mode disabled)
Massive overhaul of cover mechanics in turn-based combat
Introduction of multiplayer chat and several other minor fixes/changes"
EDIT2:
Have they added cars yet? Was rather silly at launch when the gangsters run on foot where ever they had to go.
Yes. There are a couple different quality cars you can purchase for varying price or you can carjack any car you want if you don't mind some extra heat from the police.
People expected Tropico meets Gangsters, but - as someone else on this thread said - what they got was more like a casual Facebook game than a full-price PC strategy game.
Omerta has been improved quite a lot since release, but it'll always have that same low Metacritic score. It's probably best to think of Metacritic scores as a snapshot of critical opinion at the time a game is first released.
They patched it a bit, tossed in some more content, but an awful game with a little more content is still an awful game, but with a little more content.
Sometimes, not every time but sometimes, low metacritic scores are deserved.
so true, have both gangsters, and they are way better than this
