Rival Gangs
I just recently tried this game out again after almost half a year. I noticed the game had some additional like rival gangs.

What is the strategy to beat the rival gangs in sandbox mode? Every time I try to start a business, they take it over or kill my guards that are protecting the new business.

you need to get a Lookout as soon as possible... and then pay the upgrade for "Lookout Protects itself" (its like a 2,000 upgrade)... After your upgraded Lookout is in place you will never loose a business again (unless you really suck at combat) as you will have the opportunity to engage the rival gang yourself as they attempt to take it.

I never bothered with Lookouts and instead tried to get a Security Agency asap and upgrade it to generate goons faster. The Security Agency will send goons to protect your businesses.

Don't expand too quickly to begin with, the other gang is aware you are around and will react to your expansion accordingly. Build a detective agency to keep tabs on what they do and modest sources of income (dont waste all your cash on goons unless is necesary though). Most things you establish will take some time to generate a significant amount of money, so be patient and get income from other places (jobs or rob houses using hitmen).

You need to mind a source of clean money revenue, since it's important that you get the security agency by mid game. The security agency will put goons in your buildings for free which allows you to expand freely.
It seemed like the Security Agency worked best. I will try the detective agency

I cant remember the name of it, but there is another construction that sends hitmen to the other gangs automatically, that helps late game.

If you go for the road of fighting the enemy gang on combat (lookout option and the like), then go through a bunch of missions to upgrade your troops (+1 level per mission). Be aware that too many injuries will kill your henchmen though so switch them around if you have to.

Also buy and steal every single gun in the game (through the job board or weapon dealers), the enemy gang needs to get ahold of weapons to do hits. Not sure if this last thing helps, but we got word from the devs that the enemy ai needs to go through the same ropes the player has to go through.

Is it possible to capture from them anyone knows? At start you are low on money and they captured my stuff within a min or so after it was up and running. But I could not capture any of theirs.

I tend to go for Pawn Shops to produce clean cash and weapons for dirty cash/to attack with a hitman; then once I get enough, build a Security Agency, upgrade w/ beer and then slowly and steadily take over stuff.

If you send a gangster (preferably hitman) "into" a car, you can hit their buildings for 5 weapons each.

You don't really capture any of the buildings. What the enemy ai does is vacating your buildings and building on them as soon as they can. I suggest you do something similar.

This thread show how good this game really is: all these different ways to approach the same problem. I have played many hours on this game (and counting) and I have still learned from this thread.
