Gangsters 1 & 2 still work on modern PC's and they help get my fill until someone releases a modern version.
While Mafia is a good game, it doesn't fall into the bracket of Gangsters 1/2 and Omerta, Gangsters 1 is focused on you being the boss, and doing w.e you want, gangsters 2, you still have freedom to do what you want but theres more of a story line.
Omerta has a storyline and even some sandbox/MP modes.
Used to give me my gangster fix, and i got mine running from disc on windows 7
Also not really modern can't remember how old it is now
Agree, I made a 30 minute video about this on my channel, Gangsters 1 and 2 are still undefeated in the genre. Mafia, Gangsters, Sin, etc don't compare and while they all share elements of their progenitors. Gangsters 1 is for sale on GOG and Gangsters 2 is on the high seas. If OP likes Omerta I would highly suggest Gangsters 2 its just this but much better - added bonus we get rid of the lame XCOM combat and get real-time action instead. Less Menus more Gangsters. I made a post with a link to my video on my STEAM profile if anyone is interested.
