Problems with Mircosoft's XBOX 360-Controller
I have a Microsoft Xbox360-Controller (wired. not wireless) and when I open the game and want to change the settings from Mouse/keyboard to the Controller it doesn't appear. So.. Assassin's Creed 3 doesn't recognize my Controller

I would like to play that game with my Controller, because it's much easier for me than playing it with mouse/keyboard.
Would someone of you please help me?

I use a wireless 360 controller myself, but I've had no issues. Hope you get yours working!

The same thing happened to me. What I did was to quit the game, close the U-Play window, plugged my controller again and waited until the player 1 light in my controller came up. Started the game again, went to the controller options and the game recognized it. Hope this helps you.

@drmcshizzle:
Would you please explain how I use the emulator? I installed it yesterday and tried to do something with it, but I think I'm too dumb. My Controller doesn't even made a single thing after using the emulator. I can't even push the button in the middle. I uninstalled it and now my controller works again. How do I use it?

@RedCast-1080:
I tried it :/ I even tried to uninstall my Microsoft Accesoires. I restarted my computer. I plugged my controller in and out but nothing helped ._.

I have the wireless controller. I had the same problem, but I did like RedCast-1080 and it worked (no need to quit uPlay though). Quit the game, plug the controller and turn it on, start the game and, STILL USING THE KEYBOARD, go to the controller options and select the gamepad.

would someone of you please tell me how to work with the emulator? :D

You shouldn't need to use any emulator. What OS are you running?
Mine worked without needing any configuration in AC3. Just plug the controller in and it should automatically get the drivers (assuming it is Windows 7). At the least you may have to go download the drivers (google it) and install them manually. Once it is installed you just go into Control Panel -> Devices and Printers and you should see your controller (again assuming you use Win7).

Well.. the problem is: I allready did installing the drivers.. My controller works for other games, but not for AC3 :/
I have Windows 7 on my computer

Do you have a green light on your xbox controller? If so you should just be able to go into the AC3 OPTIONS -> CONTROLS and set the CONTROL TYPE to XBOX 360 controller
Hampyi Nov 28, 2012 @ 10:41am
Yes, I have green light. And normally the controller works for all the games I have on my computer :/

Maybe put a ticket in with Ubisoft? If its working with all other games it sounds like an issue with AC3. Go into your My Documents/Assassins Creed 3 folder and open Assassins3.ini. There is a setting called SelectedInput uneder the [Input] group. What does it say? Mine looks l ike this:

[Input]
SelectedInput=Controller (XBOX 360 For Windows)
HighProfileToggle=0

My Controller is plugged in and the green light is on.. My document says:
[Input]
SelectedInput=KeyboardMouse2
HighProfileToggle=0

Backup that file to your desktop or something. Let's change a few things:

Change
SelectedInput=KeyboardMouse2
to
SelectedInput=Controller (XBOX 360 For Windows)

Scroll all the way to the bottom, the last 4 lines should look like this:
[Controller (XBOX 360 For Windows)]
VendorID=1118
ProductID=654
[Startup]

Save the file (remember to back it up somewhere else first!) and see if that works.

So I did a copy of the.ini file and changed the "SelectedInput"
now my whole .ini file changed and the last 4 lines says
RightStickUp=-1
RightStickDown=-1
RightStickLeft=-1
RightStickRight=-1

Hmmmm... Did you add the last 4 lines I mentioned above?

You should restore your old file... i'm not sure whats going on. Might need to put a ticket in with ubisoft.
