My saves are gone

So I had to reinstall windows and all my saves are gone. Uplay says I have some achievments unlocked but there are no saves ingame. What's wrong with Uplay cloud system? How can I get my saved games back?

if you didn't get your save file from the cloud sync before the game started then the answer is simply "you don't, start again" this is because when the game starts if you have cloud sync enabled Uplay overwrites whatever files are in the save directory with the last things it recieves, and then by assertation of most accounts deletes what is stored on the server. then it recieves your save data when the game is exited.

I've spent a hour restarting the game. The save games folder is just empty. After I lost hope I started a new game so I can create a save game file and dowloaded someone's else save but still nothing happened. I couldn't even use their save..... From what I've read on the forums this is way too common and the only reason to happen is that Uplay sucks. There should be a "Sync save games" button in the play menu in Uplay but there is no such thing.

have you tried turning Uplay-cloud synce (in the setting for Uplay) and then placing the save files in.

Yup, tried both ways- with sync off and on. Nothing, just my new 0% save at the Opera.

if you can load into the save, and not have Desmond walking through the cave then there is a save file. just to be sure we are on the same page you are looking in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames long-coded value (probably Uplay player ID-number) then file 54.
if not in 64-bit operating system then ignore (x86)

is this save file that is from another player the save version of the game? do both of you have the same DLCs.
from looking at the actual change dates to these files the ones you are pimarily looking at is 2.save, and 2.save.update, and maybe the same for 3.save.... the 1.save has only ever changed for me when I have reinstalled the game, but if I overwrite it. the game re-aquires/re-validates all of my DLC.

After my first start of the game and closing it I checked the save games folder ( same location as you wrote) and it was empty, so I started a new game, played a bit so I can exit and save it and I replaced that new save with a save I found on the internet which was supposed to be of a further mission . Now in my save games folder I have about 3-4 diferent save games half of which are .update. Some of them might be multiplayer saves cause I played one match. I tried all possible combination and saves from different users ( I don't know if the have the DLC-s but I do). I guess I'll just start the game from the beginning or pirate it so I don't have to use Uplay again.

where were you able to find save files? I have looked for days, and was unsuccessful.

steam may block url, so maybe just the search criteria.

I'll try this tool to see if the downloaded saves will work. Unfortunately, I uninstalled the game cause I was so mad. Will see if this will fix it tomorrow. Thank you very much for the help <3
