Encyclopedia of the Common Man.
I have this Davenport Homestead objective called Encyclopedia of the Common Man. It has a list of people I am supposed to 'analyze' and put to record, three of each proffession, and there's a lot of them. But I've never been able to find out how to do this analyzing thing, so I don't have a single recorded Common Man recorded.

Can anybody tell me what this is about and how to do it?

Thanks in advance.

I *just* hit that mission, and you need to hit the LT button (which I stil think of as L2, having spent more time on Playstations than XBoxes). Not sure what that is on the keyboard, though. I also haven't actually done it - I just got the mission before closing out - so I can't verify how it works (or even that it does), but that was the little button tip that popped up on screen at the time.

It's simple. When your're not on a mission, just go to Homestead and go to eagle view. Most people will be blue, enemies will be red, but some of the people will be yellow. When they are just press and hold "X" (or at least I think it was "X"... I played it a long time ago). After a few sec. you should automatically exit eagle view and get a message that you scanned someone.

Hope this helped. I remember I had the same problem. :]

I finally figured it out after watching a video on Youtube. I could see the guy was targeting the people (on keyboard & Mouse it's the F key), so I tried doing that and it worked, though only in one case, the farrners. But then, I couldn't find some of the other people that I've done missions for, I guess when I meet them I can do it with them too. - As for how I can get to do more missions, that may be about getting further with the game.

So far I didn't get anything out of using Eagle Vision so I don't think that's how it's done. I'm pretty sure it was the targeting that did the trick because I got the message that I'd successfully analyzed three people (even though I only analyzed two as far as I'm aware). Maybe it's different when you play with a controller? Or did you play on Xbox?

Come to think of it, it may actually be that you can see who you can "analyze" by using eagle vision. I'll try it again and see if there are any of the people who turn yellow/gold and then try and "target" them if they do. It's a good idea, I hope it works because it'll save some time in that I won't have to try to analyze everybody, only those who are yellow/gold.

Under the video I watched there were many comments that showed lots of people had issues with finding out how to do this. Ubisoft forgot to add a description in the manual section, so you're really left to find out on your own.

Ah, I see. I've never played on PS (even though I think their graphics look better than Xbox does), so I only know the LT button. I've noticed that PS also have circle, square, triangle and... X?.. instead of X, Y, A and B. But other than that the Xbox and PS controllers seem to be build the same way.

Thanks for replying, guys, I appreciate it.

Yes, Eagle Vision is for knowing who to scan (yellow color) because sometimes those people are yellow and sometimes not so it's not worth scanning them. Then you have to target them and press "X" (though I don't know if that's necessary)... And, no, I didn't play on a console, I played on PC with keyboard... I just don't like controllers.
