Peg Leg Trinket...
What is that? I'm standing on the icon of a Peg Leg Trinket, but there's no sign of anything Ithatcan can be dug or picked up. What does 'Peg Leg trinket' mean and what use does it have?

Is there a bug in this game that makes buried items inaccessible? (ref. P.S. below)

Thanks in advance for responding.

...............................

P.S. The Peg Leg Trinket is located behind a house just beneath a clif. I've looked around the close vicinity of the icon, including on top of the cliff, but can't find anything. Maybe I need to do something specific before I can access these Peg Leg Trinkets?

P.P.S. I had the same problem ealier while still playing the Haytham character. He found a Templar Map and went to the spot where it was buried. I recognized the place and the exact spot from the drawing on the map but never found any "dig here" indication, so I eventually left and still haven't found it (I might try seeking out the place later with Conner).

I think I may have found the answer to why I can't dig up the Peg Leg Trinket, but it would be nice if someone could confirm what I think...

I just entered the first general store with Connor, and I noticed he sells all kind of maps including a Trinket Map which also shows Peg Leg Trinkets not only in Boston and New York, but in the Frontier areas as well.

My thought is that perhaps you need to purchase such a map before you can dig up the Peg Leg Trinkets that you find - and the same may be the case for the Templar Maps, even though no such are listed among the variety of maps on the General Store's list.

Am I right?

Again, thanks in advance for responding.
No. You don't dig for the trinkets or do anything special to access them.
They are in openable containers. If you see there's a trinket below the ground level, that means somewhere in the area there will be a cave or mine leading to it. they're usually pretty well hidden.
What does 'Peg Leg trinket' mean and what use does it have?
The items themselves are just collectibles, related to a specific sidequest. You'll get it after talking to Peg Leg in Davenport harbor (I think this triggers during the last memory in Sequence 5).

I believe the one you're talking about is in a cave, look around the nearby area for an underground cave entrance. you were probably standing ontop of the icon but the actual icon is in a cave underneath you.

Yes, I have since played through more of the game and have been to Boston again, this time with Connor as a teen, and there were now several Peg Leg Trinkets scattered throughout the city. I decided to see if I still wouldn't be able to dig them up but found to my surprise that the trinket was placed on a table out in the open and all I had to do was [E] Open It.

A little later I went and found another trinket, again placed in plain view and accessible by clicking [E] ('Open or Interact, I forgot which). I'll revisit the place sometime where I searched the first time with Haytham, standing upon the Trinkete icon and walking in steadily larger rings around it in order to find it (it was in the frontier, so there were no building blocking my way) and see if I can see it - and pick it up - this time.

I'd do the same with the Templar maps - which I also could not see even though I was standing right where it was supposed to be at and walked the whole area thin where it might be hidden (this was clearly one of the dig-up treasure type of thing, complete with a drawing and coordinates on the map).

The theory I now have is that maybe it wasn't meant for Haytham to dig up Templar Treasures or pick up Peg Leg Trinkets, though I still wonder why he could loot chests and find Templar Maps, making them unavailable to Connor who's the one that really will need them (I had hoped the money and Templar Maps and maybe the weapons I bought for Haytham would all be turned over to Connor once Connor took over as the Main and Player Character). But I guess there's a lot for Connor to find and loot as it is, so it could be a lot worse.

Ah, good to know, thanks for letting me know.

I've noticed there are no Animus Fragments (HURRAAYH), which is just as well since I never liked them because they had no purpose. But I notice there's something else that may be without purpose and really a sort of Animus Fragments in disguise: The Feathers.

Am I right about this, or do the feathers actually play a role somehow, like the Peg Leg Trinkets perhaps? If yes, that would be awesome.

Thanks for replying, and thanks in advance if you reply again. =)

Hm, I guess that is possible.

I don't know how easily you can move around the map over water, but I'll check for the coordinates and write them down below here. If you - or anybody who's interested enough to check it out - will go to the spot and see if the place is where you think it probably is and perhaps even see if you can find it, or have found it already, it would be helpful if nothing else because I would have a chance to hear from others if the thing is really as hard to find as I think, if perhaps it's because I was trying to find it while still playing Haytham, or if I've just not been playing effectively during the hour or so that I spend trying to get this thing spotted and dug up.

... I'll have to go back and replay some of the first synchronixations in the game when Haytham had just reached land after the ship wrecked. It was on that island that he found two Templar Maps, and one of them was the one I've been writing about. - I'll need to go back and redo this section in order to get the coordinates, and I'll see if I can upload a screen pic of the map drawing itself as well. So I may not get back with the coords until later this evening as I have several things I need to do during the day.

But until then... Thanks for your help, guys, and cya l8r. =)

you can buy a map at the store and it will show you all the location of the trinkets.

after you collect them (24 in total) you give them to the guy close to the harbor on homestead and he will give you info about the kidd's treasure, after you go on 4 misions that he gave you, available at the naval missions, you can do the final mission that will reward you with kidd's treasure, that is a small piece of metal that will reflect SOME of the bullets when you get shot, leaving you unharmed some time.

I advise you to play the main story more, because you need it so you can fully finish these optional quests

They unlock an alternate outfit, if that's your thing.
