2.2GB Update?

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, that fixed it. Just copying that one file into the main game folder allowed me to load my old save first try.

Special 'hard worker of the week' award goes to moronic liars from Ubisoft who still 'working hard' to find a solution for this problem.

Good job, duuude! Will take this file from my backup later this day and gonna look how its working out. Someone should also tell Ubi, I highly doubt they are still reading this thread after people started flaming in disbelief. (What is also pretty understandable imho)

Merci beaucoup pour avoir trouvé cette solution, superbe boulot !!! Je vais enfin pouvoir terminer le jeu après deux semaines d'attente. J'étais à 98% de syncronisation et vraiment frusté de pas pouvoir finir ce jeu !

Heh, I tried to extract this file from my Steam backup, however Steam doesn't allow backup restoration without internet connection and with connection it's going to update and restore in one single process, so the needed file never finds its way to my harddrive again. Meh, bummer, all these automatics - hard to fix your stuff the classic way if the DRM mechanics control my game files over the internet as strict like that.

But anyway, thanks a lot Finoderi, I downloaded your file, this indeed seems to fix this problem! I was just running with Connor on roofs, listened to the discussion of some peasants, did pet the cats and dogs. Nice!
So, the error message "some DLC is missing" is obviously pointing to the file that is missing and is also called *dlc.forge. That is (a bit) kinda funny.

How exactly can you backup the game? I did the back up option in Steam and all it did was create 22 Disk files each containing some weird files that have nothing to do with "DX11"

He probably just copied the entitre AC3 folder to somewhere before he started the update process.

I just copied the entire "Assassin's Creed 3" folder to a new folder.

So am I to understand that those of us who already have the update can't to jack squat right now and that particular solution they offered was only because they had incidentally kept a file of the game before it was updated to what it is now?

All's well that ends well, as they say. But the sheer fact that the problem with 'missing DLC' can be fixed so easy shows how much Ubisoft really cares about you. It's easier for them to lie to you for a couple of days than to really try to look into the problem.
