Report a translation problem
So basically the problem is that it won't quick save when all of your save slots are used up, which does make sense, but the bug is that if you hit the quick save key it will still say 'Saving...' even though it isn't actually creating a new save game, so when you hit quick load it does nothing. Could be easily fixed if the devs added another save slot especially for quick saves that couldn't be used up by a manual save, but that's probably not going to happen so your solution is the only way!
Edit: Nowadays, the original Doom 3 is available on Steam. Perhaps that one doesn't have the issue.
