Which one is better? Doom3 or Quake 4?

Ive played Quake 4 before but havent finished it. I have never played Doom 3. Which one is a better game in your opinion? Which one would you buy if you had to choose only one?

And also are Quake 4 and Doom 3 compatible with new systems? I mean these are not one of those old games that dont work right on new hardware/software, are they?

Doom 3 BFG edition is compatible with win7. don't know with win 8. Quake 4 is a sequel to Quake 2, and it's a decent game.

Doom 3 BFG edition also includes the previous doom games. and the expansion pack for Doom 3. And the new engine code for Doom 3 BFG edition improves visuals and shadows compared to the original release of Doom 3.

It's a hard choice, they offer different gameplay experiences. Q4 offers fast action and it changes the gameplay a bit into the game. D3BFG is 3 or 4 games in one and offers more content. standard old school fps in the first games and horror in the 3rd game in the series.

I whould go with Doom 3 because of the updated game engine and the content it offers. But Quake 4 has it's moments.

the original Doom 3 has co-op trough a mod. Doom 3 BFG only has co-op in the old Doom games.

I preferred Quake 4- finished it twice already and ready for a third run through. I just found there was more variety. Like climbing onto turrets, driving vehicles, cool boss fights etc.

Doom 3 is a much better game, though they are very similar. I believe this is because of Carmack's influence over Doom 3 while Quake 4 was made by Raven Software. Quake 4 was very run of the mill shooter, but the last half was quite exciting. Doom 3 had be hooked from the beginning though.

Doom 3 is a whole lot better. Quake 4...meh. Didn't even finish it.
