2. I don't think Kelly was willingly possessed. He ceased giving you hints after contacting/aborting the fllet message so that was the moment when Hell openly took control over him. He was needed first to show Marine the way to commlink and in case he aborted it, at least Betruger already knew the location so he did it himself. After that, Hell started to possess Kelly to make him his powerful demon because he wasn't needed as human anymore.
3. There wasn't any invasion on Earth after Doom 3. Marine saved the day on Mars.
4. I don't think so but those who stayed on Mars longer and was less good hearted were probably easier to possess.
5. I think that UAC covered all the thing from the public and made sure that Doom Marine remained silent about it too. I don't think it would mean killing him, they owed him big time. If you played return to castle wolfenstein, the commander from your agency tells in the end, that Blazkovitz deserves a medal for his mission but the whole operation officially never existed and he will understand it. I think the same scenario goes there. They used his knowledge, maybe gave him big salary and made him Marine training boot camp instructor but never made him official eart hero. Also, he is mentioned in ROE in intro but they say he was the only survivor which I refuse to accept personally.
6. I think he died. There was no way he could go back and McNeil died from lack of oxygen probably some time before. If he survived, they would make this apparent, the same way the Lost Mission ended where we see that our hero survived.
I am just going by what the lost missions reveal about Betruger, yes they probably choose him because he was in charge of general research in teleportation etc. But so was Elizabeth Mcneil and others scientists/ UAC workers in other areas of importance. The lost missions reveal that the Demons appeared to Betruger in dreams, long before he entered Hell, which I find interesting TBH!. Maybe Betruger had an interest in the occult that alerted the Demons to his existence and it was the demons who gave him the idea to build a teleporter though some pact.
You make interesting points about Doom Guy, but if I were him, I would try and alert everybody to the danger that Hell Presents, He wouldn't need much evidence to bring about a full public enquiry, UAC wouldn't be able to suppress it in my view, assuming Doom Guy was not insane after all that.
I think that it is possible that an unseen third invasion took place after ROE, this time on Earth. the Demons have shown that they don't necessarily need a teleporter to invade a place, if they do then one might be built on Earth. After 2005, it was heavily hinted that any sequel to Doom 3 would be an invasion of Earth. Of course this is now impossible with the 2016 reboot, but in- game, it's possible the Demons wanted revenge after the Mars Incident.
Your right, Mcneil was definitely dead, the marine was suffering critical injuries in Hell no less, so I don't think it's possible for him to survive and return to Mars.
