Won't launch
I bought DOOM 3 BFG edition on Steam and installed it without any problems. I pressed play and Steam was running first time setup installations as expected. However once that had finished nothing happened. I pressed play again and first time setup tried to install Microsoft VC Redist Package, after which nothing happens again. Every time I press play the same thing happens. It shows that I am in game for a few seconds and then shows that I am not in game anymore after about 5 seconds. No error messages appear when I attempt to launch the game.
I have tried the standard fixes of verifying integrity of game cache as well as updating my graphic drivers.

I have also tried:
1)running DXSETUP
2)running vcredist_x86 (I also uninstalled and re installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributable as well as trying to repiar it)
3)extracting the QeffectsGL.1.2 folder into the main game folder
All of which have been suggseted in other discussions.

Is there anyway to get the game to launch?

My laptop specs are:
Lenovo Y50-70 Ultra HD laptop
OS: Windows 10 64 bit
CPU: Intel Core i7-4710HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz
Memory: 16GB RAM
GPU: GeForce GTX 860M

Any help would be greatly appreciated

UPDATED
I have managed to get it to launch by adding the launch option "+set r_fullscreen 0" on Steam. This launches it in a small windowed box and in theory you should be able to make it full screen afterwards. However when the Bethesda logo appears it crashes for me. I have tried it a few times and have now recived this error "NVIDIA OpenGL Driver: Unable to recover from a kernerl exception. The application must close. Error Code: 3". I will see if I can get anywhere now.

I can get the game to run windowed, Ive had to roll the Driver back 355.98 (Killing Floor2) its the most stabe driver set we have i find game falling over on newer ones.....

in game settings fullscreen mode is DISABLED with no option to enable...

fullscreen is the ideal though at least 2048x1152 would be nice...

Ah ok, I will try this. I wonder what is happening with the new drivers to cause the problem

I have managed to get it working like you in the windowed mode using those drivers. I wonder if there is a way to get it to work in fullscreen with the new drivers?

Same problem/laptop, and after some trial and error I think I may have a solution. Try using this for your launch options:

+set r_fullscreen -1 +set r_windowHeight "YOUR_RESOLUTION_HERE" +set r_windowWidth "YOUR_RESOLUTION_HERE" +set r_windowY "0" +set r_windowX "0"

for whatever resolution you currently have your laptop at.

Hope this works for you!
