Doom 3 BFG Fullscreen issue.
Hey, just got this and every time I start it, it's crammed in a box in the corner. I don't mean windowed either. The screen takes up 2/3 of my monitor and no matter what settings I change the thing is still stuck in the corner with my desktop visible in the background.

Probably a settings thing but what am I missing?

EDIT:

HEY WE HAVE A FIX!!! Thanks Rogermorse for that one. Still curious why this is the ONLY rez this will play on. But at least it works!

if your using VSR(virtual super resoluion ) this is caused by the recent windows 10 build update... after posting on many forums i was informed you need to reinstall the drivers for your specific graphic card .. after this it should work ok ...

Same issue as well.

+set r_fullscreen -1 +set r_windowHeight "YOUR_RESOLUTION_HERE" +set r_windowWidth "YOUR_RESOLUTION_HERE" +set r_windowY "0" +set r_windowX "0"

EDIT::::FIXED::::SEE END OF THIS POST

Same problem, I want to play with 1280x720 on my laptop (which has a fullhd screen) but no matter windowed or fullscreen, it gets rendered in the corner instead of maxing the screen (although in 720p).

It's a behaviour of the game, doesn't depenf on video drivers. I will try the config lines suggested in post #5

The normal version of doom3 (the older version) renders just fine in fullscreen at subpixel resolutions, but that was another engine.

EDIT::: ok changing the lines in the config file didn't help. Either windowed or fullscreen at a resolution which is NOT the native resolution of the screen, will render the game in a part of the screen with pixel ratio 1:1 instead of making it fullscreen at the chosen resolution. Maybe using the borderless windowed gaming tool would help but i'm too lazy to try.

EDIT 2 :::::::: ok, in windows 10 (and in my case, because I use a surface pro 2 so the DPI are set accordingly) what fixed it was going to the doom3bfg .exe and setting (checking) the option 'disable DPI settings for this app'. Now it acts normally, that is I can play 1280x720 (or 1600x900) on my 1920x1080 native screen resolution without the game going windowed or cramped up in the lower left corner.

Amazing, thanks. Worked perfectly for me.

A variation of this worked for me. See this thread: https://steamcommunity.com/app/208200/discussions/0/355043117513818543/

How do I get to doom3bfg.exe and where do I find "disable DPI settings for this app"??

I used this slightly different approach to get to the doom3bfg.exe on my computer. Same solution (Very much thanks) but different path and compatibility option. Follow the

ProgramFiles(x86)>steam>steamapps>common>DOOM 3 BFG edition.

Right click on application.
Left Click on Properties
Left Click on the "compatibility" tab.

My version of Windows 10 has the option to check the box for "Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by:"

Make sure the next box has "Application" in the gray box, which is probably the default

This will work until Windows 10 changes its mind again on how it labels its properties.

Thank you so much. I was not happy till I read your reply. This works perfect and makes sense.
