Having trouble with DHEWM 3 and improving framerate.

I know this is a pretty specific question but I'm not sure who else I can turn to.

I wanted to play through Ressurection of Evil, so I downloaded it, only to see it had no widescreen and was locked at 60fps. Did some research, checked out the PCgaming wiki, and found a source port called DHWEM 3, which was supposedly pretty good, and the wiki had a guide to make the game run at a higher framerate using a seperate 240fps base file replacement. I couldn't find any "autoexec.cfg" file anywhere, and the wiki tells me seemingly nothing about where to find it, so I tried making a notepad document titled 'autoexec.cfg" in the "base" folder for DHEWM 3, and putting the respective comments in, but nothing seems work, and when running the game, it runs in extreme slow motion.

Anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong here? I am fairly certain I copied all pk4 files properly.

Edit: I've also just realized that I'm not even sure how to launch RoE through DHEWM 3, as starting the DHWEM 3 application just launches Doom 3 despite me not even having it installed currently, just RoE. Any advice appreciated.

Your path for autoexec.cfg should look like this:
C:\Users\Admin\Documents\my games\dhewm3\base

*"Admin" is my Win11 PC account name.

As for running RoE, you must create a shortcut for dhewm3.exe and add this line to the "Object" section:
+set fs_game d3xp

In my case, it looks like this:
D:\Games\dhewm3\dhewm3.exe +set fs_game d3xp

Thanks. You were several links down on a google search but were the only one that helped. Funnily enough, I didn't have this issue at all when using dhewem3 a couple of years ago.

Weird, I thought I replied to this. Maybe I had connection issues at the time.

Thanks for the answer. I ended up trying something else that worked, but it's great to have another potential solution!
