They are fine, can't say that they are boring or bad

The Lost Mission is very short and doesn't even add anything new. It recycles old environments a lot too.
almost all is recycled,bad expansion

i should probebly note there's a free port of it for the original doom 3, making the bfg version, even more useless

The Lost Mission, in my opinion, was a lot of fun--very action-packed, albeit a bit too short. The only three shortcomings of the Lost Mission are:
  1. It's too short. Just when you are getting into the groove of things, it ends. A couple more levels would have been nice!
  2. The hell levels don't look as good as those of the base Doom 3 campaign. The Lost Mission's hell levels are a bit too brightly lit.
  3. The BFG Edition isn't the ideal way to play Doom 3. I can tolerate the armour-mounted flashlight, but the lack of illumination from muzzle flashes sort of ruins the entire experienec for me.

Really? I will need to look this up some time soon, as that sounds like my cup of tea! I don't particularly care for the increased ammo pickups in the BFG Edition either, as it makes what is already a pretty easy game even more ridiculous. In the original Doom 3 release, ammo wasn't exactly scarce, but you couldn't go ham with the more powerful guns as soon as you got them.

In the Lost Mission, I had enough plasma cells to use the plasma gun as my main weapon shortly after I first picked it up. And by the end of that mini-campaign, I hadn't even managed to fire off all my BFG ammo either.

it's not just the ammo, they made alot of choiced i dont agree with. for example, in RE expansion's ending, instead of a fade to white, which could imply the marine is not in haven or somth. instead, it's an ugly fade to black, which makes the anti climatic ending even more anti climatic, also you dont need to switch to the flashlight, making the game easier. they ruined the intro which had cool music in the background. the only upside i noticed to the bfg edition is the ucaped framerate.

You raise some excellent points. Apropos of playing The Lost Mission in the original Doom 3 release, you can find a mod on ModDB which allows you to do that. I'm currently playing it now and enjoying it even more than the BFG edition's version. I am not certain whether it is permitted to link it here, though, as I am not 100% certain about Steam's policy regarding links to other sites.

One thing I really liked about the Lost Mission was the new audio logs. The voice acting for some of them, like the ones by Allen Rhodes, was truly excellent--you can really hear the mixture of disbelief, growing fear, and uncertainty in the man's voice. Rhodes is trying to remain calm, but he has no idea what is going on, other than it is something seriously FUBAR beyond any sane definition of the term.

It's easy to imagine that most of the UAC personnel--civilian workers and Marine security--reacted similarly. Very few people probably grabbed a shotgun and started blasting Imps in the face, which is why the demons had no trouble steamrolling the UAC security personnel even though many of the creatures like Imps, Maggots, and Wraiths aren't particularly hard to kill.

After all, most people's first impression upon seeing a weird, "alien" creature they've never seen before isn't to double-tap it in the head, unless they are a Space Marine or a Spartan from Halo, perhaps. Rather, it is to stare, marvel, and/or freak out shortly before said creature eviscerates them or their buddies.

he's correct, as i've seen the downloadable link myself firsthand!!!

but to answer the OP's question.....

that's for you to decide if you want to play it or not. I personally wouldn't play, as it was already pointed out, it's way too short for it to be really enjoyable (as it ends just as it was beginning to be good)
