I still don't get why Sarge knows Swan is trying to stop the transmission
I don't buy into Sarge being on Bertrugers side but I also don't understand why theres no communication between Swan and the Bravo team marine either. Anyone got any good plot insight?

I think it's worth resorting to the wiki

From what I've seen in the game, Kelly doesn't genuinely know what's going on until after Betruger subverts him. According to the wiki, Bravo Team was the first group of marines to make it back to Marine HQ, and Kelly doesn't know you've survived until you make it back later on. At that point, he has no idea what the situation is, and he's trying to figure it out; he truly feels that more reinforcements are needed to control the situation and learn exactly what was going on.

As to why there's not any communication between Swann and the Bravo Team marines, that's because he's a civilian; he's not in their chain of command. Recall that he doesn't call you until Kelly sends you to complete Bravo Team's mission; by then, Swann's figured out what Betruger is up to and how more Marines are exactly what Betruger wants. So he calls you, courtesy of his bodyguard having the equipment, and tells you to disobey Kelly's order. Swann knew something about Betruger was off from the moment the two met, he just didn't what what it was exactly. He figures it out off-screen.

Campbell, Swann's bodyguard, is either a former marine who was hired by UAC after he mustered out, or he's currently a marine who's been assigned to that post by his CO. I'm leaning towards the second situation because he's also carrying a BFG-9000, and I can't think of any reason why someone who's not currently active duty would be packing something like that. We know he's wearing marine armor, which presumably incorporates some sort of communication gear in the armor itself, judging by the fact that you're not wearing armor but can pickup radio transmissions just fine. I imagine Kelly can monitor all transmissions made over that gear within Mars Base itself, which is logical as he's the highest-ranking Marine there; he would need that capability to fulfill his normal duties.

It's annoying Campbell was the most interesting character in the whole game and they killed him off.

Mystery doesn't always need to be solved. The mysterious feeling between the two is suppose to be there.

There's a common misconception when it comes to mystery where people believed everything that deals with the element must be solved because they can't rest until it is answered. If no one answered it then they believed a negative feeling affect them and they beloved this negative outcome will affect their experience. When this happens what often comes are many very negative perspective projecting from having their exception never met.

The truth is mystery is a flexible word that deals with many things and can be many things in one go. To solved a crime of a cold case and finding more questions than answers. Grid went dark with no one knows what happen. Doom player sees doom coming after them.

I know the feeling when my brain gets too logical when the game is fiction kind of hard to turn it off this is for everyone with anything that deals with fiction story. Even if the game want to be surreal.
