The only thing that can give bfg edition is fast loads, excellent multithreading (performance gains are felt even on a weak computer. In the end, it does not lag even with effects.), support widescreen (this is possible in the original, but only through the console / config). Graphics are demaster than the improved version of doom 3.
Bethesda dont want to make anything for bfg edition, still no patches , a separate version was made for the bethesda net launcher, some small improvements were not included in the steam version.
This mod can restore some cutted things: https://www.moddb.com/mods/cstdoom3-bfg
you make good points, but my opinion is left unchanged
if you disagree with me, that's completely fine, just remember that
Especially noticeable in original when you kill a zombie by your hands, and it flies up.
+better optimized and with some minor fixes, including better ragdoll physics
+doesn't require any mods to work well on modern systems
+quick load times
-some missing content, though not a lot
-non-skip-able cutscenes
-no zoom function
-less mods available/compatible
-slightly more expensive to purchase
The original games, on the other hand, are darker, give you less ammo, and have flashlight play. They are more horror-oriented. My pros/cons for it:
+better shadow quality
+have content that was cut out of the BFG editions
+skip-able cutscenes
+zoom function
+more mods
+slightly cheaper to purchase
-less optimized
-quirky ragdoll physics
-slower load times
If I had to choose between the two, I'd choose the originals -- though it does indeed have some wacky death physics
Original Doom 3 still has slow load time on modern PCs, like when you play newest mod for it Doom 3: Phobos.
