I disagree. According to the wiki, the Doom Slayer is the same guy who you play in Doom, Doom 2, and Doom 64. It also says that his sarcophagus was found by a UAC expedition to Kadingir Sanctum. Since the Primary Excavation site is still on Mars, not Hell, that coffin you find there can't be him.
i dont think doom marine and doom guy are the same person if thats what youre saying, maybe i misread/misinterpreted what you wrote.
i don't see anything pertaining to doom 3 in that article [bear in mind i skim read so i may have over looked it] but i always considered doom 1/2/64/2016/eternal to be "Doom Guy/Slayer" and Doom 3 to be "Doom Marine" i.e. not the same person. I was always under the impression that Doom 3 is a re-imagining, not a reboot/continuation, therefore its not necessarily canon.
3 is personally my favorite of all time, doesn't mean i dont like the "main-line" series, in fact i love them just as much. but 3 really hits home for me, and I don't understand how there are people out there that don't like it.
