zDoom and Brutal Doom

So playing this made me want to try out those... mods? independent .exe's? I know literally nothing about them and google fu only took me to a few broken download links and articles.

Where would I go to get everything, in as few steps/sites as possible? I don't know where there's an updated version or how it even installs etc. I got a Brutal Doom .pak but no clue what I'm supposed to do with that file, etc.

I reckon I can help here.
Zdoom, it should be easy to find with a google search (you WILL need the Doom.wad files from either original Doom, or the ones in your Doom 3 bfg folder).
Brutal doom can be found at https://www.moddb.com/mods/brutal-doom

I think ZDoom comes in the download for Brutal Doom.
But if not, the Brutal Doom files you put in a folder called 'SKINS' in your ZDoom folder.

Download the latest Brutal Doom mod (from April I believe but he's always working on it),
Download the Doom Metal Soundtrack, put BOTH in the SKINS folder in your Brutal Doom folder.
Run ZDoom, pick your Doom game (works with Doom 2 wad files also), and start.

You may have to muck around with some settings (resolution, controls, and in Brutal Doom options turn on the option to keep shell casings if you have a decent PC), but its fun as all hell.

Your DOOM.WAD files are stored in the ZDoom folder, your MODs go in the Skins folder.

Extract archive. Copy DOOM.WAD DOOM2.WAD NERVE.WAD from \steamapps\common\DOOM 3 BFG Edition\base\wads to where you extracted gzdoom.
Extract brutal doom pk file to the same folder. Launch gzdoom.exe.

I really need to run this zdoom through steam so i also do my achievements while playing a better looking version of the originals doom + doom 2 , i found another guide on google that explains how to install the zdoom files inside the steam folder, but this was for the Ultimate Doom version, and not the bfg one, im finding a tough time to make it work properly :( maybe anyone has any other tips ?

you have to open the config file and find the Autoload section and set the mods you want, or you can use a launcher

The config file for gzdoom is in the same directory the executable is, usually it is named gzdoom-<username>.ini you can open it with simple notepad.

As for the launcher search it on google.

ya i looked on gzdoom and not much places showing how to get controller working

A few days late my good man, but once you're running the game with GZDoom there's a setting in the options within the game itself to enable the controller/joypad/. Don't remember which of the many menus it was but I found it pretty quickly.
