Hotfix | More Smoosh, No Problem

Hey buds, another hotfix whaaaat!

You might have seen we pushed a hotfix yesterday, where we added more poop to the game to resolve a hotfix. This time we’re here to stop the ground eating all your items, because that’s very rude tbh.

As usual, if you need to get in touch with us to report a bug not currently on our Known Issues thread, or mentioned in the fixes below, you can visit support.southfieldgame.com to raise a ticket. We also have a dedicated bug reporting forum in our community Discord.

Please be mindful that we are a small team and may not be able to respond to every report, but we’ll keep you posted on any fixes.

Full patch notes:

Fixed an issue where the game was not saving tutorial progress when reloading*
Improvements to performance (less stuttering)
The ground should no longer eat your items
I kid you not, we’ve added even more poop (Smoosh)
We’ve also added more Ooze (dropped from Ruffians, and purchasable)
Missing tooltips for certain items in Vendors now show properly
Fixed sliders in settings menu stopping player apply new settings
Reduced popping issues
Fixed the quest board breaking your quest flow
World will reset more often meaning more resources
More coal available around starting area*
More Boingers will appear around starting area*
Boingers will now grow faster (more Boingers for you)
Eat those Boingers, get more stamina (more energy, more footwork)
You no longer get given a singular pebble as a reward for the watering can quest (you get nothing, good day sir)

Southfield

Spawned in the sky

When I started playing today I spawned in the sky in the corner of the map. I tried to use the Reset Player to spawn in a safe place but it would just put me back in the top corner of the map. Quit to menu and then started the game again and now it spawned me in the corner of the map in the water. Tried to swim toward the island but after a few minutes I barely even could see any progress. So my save is trashed now. Will start a new one I guess....

Hotfix | Getting Smoosh Done

Hey buds, a hotfix has arrived!

Thanks to everyone who’s left us feedback and flagged bugs over the last 24 hours. Our devs have been hard at work, optimising and fixing - and we’ve been able to push a patch today to address many of your reports.

💩 Help, I’ve run out of fertiliser!

We’ve seen a few softlock moments during our tutorial, where the player hasn’t been able to progress as they’ve used up their fertiliser and struggles to find more. We’ve doubled the amount of smoosh and ooze in Baggle’s inventory so you can easily purchase more to complete the quest.

You can also get smoosh by leaving crops on the ground to decay, and ooze spawns around Ruffians at night. Hopefully you won’t run out now!

💩 Help, the floor ate my items!

We’ve seen reports that players have found themselves stuck in the ground, and in some cases, the ground has stolen all their items. When this happens, the game will try to force respawn your Bud if you’re unable to get free - and this will automatically revert you to a previous save state.

So, if you didn’t have anything in your inventory at that time, you’ll have an empty inventory when you’ve respawned. We recommend two things…

If you get stuck, try to ragdoll your way free, before the game tries to force respawn your Bud.
Manually save regularly, so that if this does happen, it won’t be quite as devastating if some (hopefully less) of your items have gone missing.

To save your game, press “Start”, navigate to the ⚙️ tab at the top, and press “Save Game”.

Moved Smoosh to be an immediate reward before the fertiliser quest
Adjusted the time it takes for crops to grow
Reduced growth time for Boinger crops
Boinger crops now provide more stamina when eaten

Adjusted LOD (level of detail) distances to alleviate popping issues
Changes to music near Vex for less ear ache

Wobble into our Closed Beta

Get back into Southfield!

Hey Buds! We're running a Closed Beta until Friday 31st May. Now's your chance to visit Southfield, explore, grow, build, automate - and let us know what you think! Here's a few things you need to know before you get started...

How to Access

To sign up for access to our Closed Beta, please go to the Southfield store page and click "Request Access". We'll be giving players access to our Closed Beta in waves - you will be notified by Steam when you are granted access. When you've been accepted, you will see the Southfield Closed Beta in your library.

Player Support

We have a new player support portal, for bug reports and feedback. You can visit https://southfieldgame.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portals to find useful articles, report your bugs, and leave player feedback. You can also access support via our Discord community server[discord.gg].

Streaming and Sharing

Creators, you are welcome to stream our Closed Beta, or create any content around it (e.g. sharing images or videos). We have dedicated channels in our Discord for you to tell other buds when you're streaming, share screenshots of your builds, clips, etc.

We're keeping this short, but if you have any questions, please feel free to drop a comment here or in Discord. Please keep in mind that we are a small team, and we'll do our best to respond. Extreme Failure at minimum settings and on steamdeck

I have set the visual and audio setting to minimum. I have the minimum settings reported on the game page, plus a little extra processing power, however while playing (not just during the tutorials) the game randomly shuts down my usually reliable pc. I tried the same on my steamdeck with similar out come (if anything a little faster). I tried with bluetooth contoler, wired (as well as wireless) keyboard and mouse. I am unsure how to set the setting to the absolute minimum however as I am new to pc gaming....

Spec Windows 11 All drivers up to date RTX 3070 i7 11800 Sadly i couldn't play for more than 10 minutes for 2 reasons. 1. The game kept freezing every couple minutes 2. I started with controller as advised but the wobbly nature of the controls didn't feel nice to play with. I switch to mouse thinking it might give be better control but it was worse and i couldn't aim very well to plant a seed in the correct square. Sadly this led me to quit the game quite early as these are quite frustrating issues. ...
