Won't launch Episode 5 (FIXED WITH SOLUTION LISTED)
I completed Episode 4 and eagerly awaiting the 5th installment. When I first fire up the game it tells me Episode 5 is installed, but here is where things get weird:

- When I go to resume a game it says "Episode 3" yet takes me to the end of Episode 4 right before the (*spoiler*) zombie bites Lee. I of course make the same decisions.

- After I make the same decisions the main menu comes back up and then it says "Episode 5: Coming Soon". What? It just said it was installed.

- I tried to copy the save file in another slot, but after I complete Episode 4 again it only shows one save slot and does the same thing ("Coming Soon").

- I tried just going to Episode 5 to see what would happen rather than going to my save file. I played it for 10 minutes or so. When I left to the main menu it shows that my save is in Episode 5, but when I click on the slot it goes and tells me it is "Coming Soon" even though I was JUST playing it.

I really want to finish the series with my decisions. Can someone help me?

P.S. I'm running Windows 8 64 bit Pro.

SOLUTION:
As Wohlers states below, the following steps fix the problem:

I have a similar problem. When I get into the game Episode 4 is selected and it starts with the bite scene. But after the credits it will tell me that Episode 5 "is coming soon"....

I actually _could_ play Episode 5. If I start the game, go to play and don't simply continue, but switch to Episode 5 directly, it will be playable. But only with random choices.

Btw I use Win7, so it is no Win8 problem.

This is really strange... You'd think if it were there it would save your progress, but it doesn't even seem to do that or recognize that it's installed...

Same thing here. But I'm on Mac (13" Pro i5 OSX 10.7.5). So, it's pretty certainly not an OS issue, but an in-game issue. Something Telltale needs to patch, ASAP. I'm losing love for the game by the day. I would go back to previous chapters, but it always loads to the Lee bite scene, and doesn't show who's with you along with the other stats before the credits. Very annoying.

I actually never realized it didn't show who would come with me after this subsequent playthrough. It did the first time I played through it, but not this time.

So this has happened on every episode release? I only got in to the game after the 4th episode was already out so this is my first time I've experienced a new episode release.

Hey guys, just wanted to say - same thing here.

If i click on "play" straight away, I can go for episode 5, but with random (scrappy) decisions, if i resume my episode 4 I end up on the last dialogue (although I completed it almost dozens times), after that one I can watch some credits and then it says "Coming soon" for episode 5.

And the strange thing is additional - my stats shows me some "working" name, like "Decision 1, Part 1: You resulted 5:2".

hey, wohlers - just wanted to post that solution too right now... found it here:

http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29343

worked for me too! ttg-dev explains it here very well. just finished ep.5 - walking dead is one of the best games these days, for sure! :o

That fix actually does work! I'll be sure to post it in the original post. Thanks!

Also, this is off topic, but when I was *spoilers* speaking to the man that took Clementine in the chair he mentioned that I left a poor, old defenseless woman alone. I am not too sure who he was talking about, and I tried to recall everything from the past episodes, but I can't seem to remember anything about it.

Does anyone know?

:( Not working on my Mac. Restarts on EP 4 with random choices if I delete/rename prefs.prop. Other people are having this issue. For Mac users, prefs.prop file & saves are located in: Macintosh HD>Users>*Username*>Library>Application Support>Telltale Games>TheWalkingDead.

The folder
Macintosh HD>Users>*Username*>Library>Application Support>Steam>SteamApps>common>The Walking Dead
only contains the "TheWalkingDead.app"

This seems to be a different problem. Also, I could find no supposed "ttg-dev"

I wish I could help you out, but I literally have no knowledge when it comes to Macs especially for gaming since they work quite differently.
DOAOBerdmann Nov 26, 2012 @ 7:59pm
Please tell me someone has found another solution to this!

What are your specs/issues DOAOBerdmann?
