Why is the military so weak?

In both the TV series and the game, every time the survivors look for the military compound, they realized it has been "overrun" by the zombies...

but seriously, how hard is for well-trained and heavily armed soldiers to fight back a bunch of slow moving, predicatble zombies?

even in the TV show, the elderies and kids with baseball bat have no problem killing multiple zombies. this makes no sense :(

I would imagine it would depend what orders the the Commander in Chief is giving.

Or maybe with all the military cut backs they were not allowed to have anymore ammo...dont laugh that actually happened to our unit we were also rationed out grenades and armor due to 'budget' cuts, they also tried to bring charges on our unit when we had to dig out foxholes and defensive perimeters for upsetting the natural enviroment!

So yeah maybe in thier future the military is totally castrated...;(

Also by the time people reached there some were infected inside and then they turned cause havok and so on. Then more zombies arrive and kill the rest, but in all truth it wont ever happen because as Pelvis said its fake.

The zombies caught the military by surprise and a zombie is more likely to win in a fight against an unarmed human

They were caught by surpise, but that doesn't mean they are all dead. It has only been 400 Days in the game and maybe a few days more in the coimc. So it is likely that the remainding Military personnel has gather together and trying to build up. In the US it is likely they are in the Midwest using the mountains as a base of operations.

I know this one. To start you cant predict how anyone is going to react, when their friends and family try to eat their face off. Also dont forget that the virus will have infected the soldiers in the armys too. maintaning any kind of order or organization would be very hard to do. Holding a large army together would be impossible. And its all just make believe, super bad ass make believe.

The answer it's that you can't really stop millions of unstoppable zombies coming at your squad, you will need and air strike but even then you're talking about millions on all cities at once, believe me, you will get overrun. The only viable option it's rescue the most valuable people that will help reconstruct civilization.
