Walking Dead wont start.

I have tried many different ways uninstalling, changing the compatability, I have not tried to DL a DLL file cause I am scared of a potential virus from the sites that people list. If anyone has any kind of idea on a workaround or etc please help would be much appreciated.

Just so people know I am trying to play this game withouth a 360 controller and I am on a windows 8 64 bit pc.

Same, for whatever reason the game will not start. As a matter of fact, none of the games I purchased in the Telltale Humble Bundle are working.

oddly enough, running the .exe under win xp SP3 got it to launch for me....

The same happened to me.

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\The Walking Dead\ right click on the .exe -> Properties -> Compatibility -> Run as admin. That fixed the problem for me, hope it helps! :)

I've tried this a few times now. It thinks about it for a few seconds then doesnt load. I also tried to find the ( \Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead\prefs.prop ) file i've seen in other conversations and am not finding any fix. Starting to think i've wasted money on this humble bundle.

If anyone having this issue cant resolve it by any of the methods already mentioned, try launching the game with any controller you have disconnected, simply disconnecting my xbox pad solved this issue for me, if this does solve the issue, and your on windows 8, there is a simple work around which involves downloading a controller .dll file which you simply in your walking dead game folder.

I have Windows 7 and no controller and tried everything and still no dice :(

have you tried the basic verify game cache procedure? should always be the first thing you try if a steam game has issues, you could also try deleting the .exe file from the games folder and have steam redownload it, i have had / seen cases in the past where the standard verify doesnt catch a corrupt exe file.

I had to unplug my controller, after that it started just fine.

Thanks for all the helpful comments! unfortunatly I never tried to play the game with a controller just keyboard and mouse for some odd reason I have no clue why it dosen't work.

I don't even know why the hell that worked but thank you so much. I've been sad all day thinking none of these games would work.
