Can the game not use wallpaper engine wallpapers?

Everytime I try to use my wallpaper from wallpaper engine it just shows a default windows background, feels more immersive if i could use my actual wallpaper

You've gotta turn on "override wallpaper image" in wallpaper engine settings, the game grabs it from the registry, which that setting overrides.
