The First Descendant

The First Descendant

Trying to do end game content, feel I hit a wall.
I've been playing for good while, but always missed some obvious things I should know.

Examples:
-Didn't know you could enhance reactors.
-Didn't know I could match 4/4 external components for extra ability.
-Early on, didn't know about resetting weapons.

I was kind of happy reaching the lvl 150 boss colossus, but he stomped me bad.
I get hit 1-2 times and it's over, sometimes i'm revived and I die instantly.

I've tried adding some elec resistance modules, but not much help.
Some of my stats are below the recommend on the matchmaking screen.

I also just tried void erosion purge and can't beat lvl 2 with 5 minutes left.
Can survive, but can't take out enemies fast enough.

Any obvious things I should be doing?
I mostly run freyna, lepic, and ajax.

Currently trying to:
-Get 5 copies of fallen hope,Abion Calvary Gun, and gregs reverse fate.
-I did reset them about 6-7 times.
-Get 4/4 matching external components for a boost.
-Upgrading equips.

Ult Freyna unlocks unique Transcendent Mods. Venom Injection boosts your skill damage considerably at the cost of HP. Run 1HP with all shield and you have crazy damage all the time. I use this in purge as the tick damage is actually strong enough to melt things.
You don't need electric resistance, his attacks mostly dodgable. What you need is big amount of hp. And for that matter you need different equipment with HP stats in each part + 2 hp mods + arche in HP. Than you need to build last dagger to max (cores from purge) + weapon adjustment.
Fully upgraded last dagger will allow you to beat this boss with any character in 1-1,5 minutes.

Contagion mod fo Freyna must allow you to clear many Purge levels from 1-20, but not all of them (I used Bunny for Toxic faction. Ines can clear everything up to 28. I don't know now, I heard they nerfed something again) . Also I am sure, that there is build for her against Tormentor too.

Albion Cavalry is useless if you don't play boost firearm characters like Gley, Serena or Hailey. Last Dagger is more universal, but you still need these characters for Purge 28-30.

I would say its a little to early for end game content.

You need to grind out quite a bit more before you can run a descendant at a end game capable level.
Some weapons are good at one thing, but just worthless for others.
Kinda counts for descendants as well, less so if you have them maxed out however.

The whole setup is pretty much to gather many different stuff to use specific stuff for specific things. Except some game breaking unbalanced exceptions.

VE for example, those mobs have less resistance vs a certain element.
Example, hitting a fire mob with fire bullets isn't the best idea .... bring in chill bullets.

Its a bit of a hassle to figure out how to get to certain points, and takes a lot of time actually doing it, sometimes just grinding for hours.
But once you get past that point, everything is possible.
Also forgot - last dagger is easy to farm with new target system + equipment part with Consumable Drop Rate chance increase.

It depends on how you play the purges tbh, gun or skill use? Try to equip the counter element to the purge level might help you a lot there.

I wouldn't focus to much on the 4/4 external set, best all around option is to focus on getting a set of max hp externals. Always try to get aux power with max hp as one of the two bonuses as well if you can.
How many hours is a good while to you?

my suggestion is farm ultimate bunny dan fully catalize it for farming. I know its been powercreep by ines, but its very to farm bunny dan very easy to use for beginner. Then farm slayer set component and good reactor (electric - singular).

Don't worry about it. People want nerfs, so eventually you can only dream about getting stumped Colossus. The top 10 wants nerfs so much, they think the world evolves all about them alone.

Will swap out cavalry with something else, maybe enduring legacy or Voltia.
Will look into maxing last dagger.

Having trouble knowing what to keep and what to dismantle.
So many reactors have similar stats, same for external components.
Should I most keep ones with extra HP?

Seriously? Just farm Serena and A-TAMS, one shot this b❤️❤️❤️ard.

I say it's way too early for to do the void erosion purge missions, and to fight the abyss colossus. It'll take quite a while for you to get the things you need. So you better start grinding and building your stuff. Don't just use some random ult weapons, reactors, and components and stick it to a descendant. It has to work well with their kits so you'll be able to do more damage. As long as you have a Bunny, Freyna, or Ines built to the max, then grinding will make things easier.

Honestly my best tip would be to collect every weapon you have access to and just level it up to 40. That way you will have them when you need them for specific uses. Same for descendants. Take your time it's not a rush. You will also increase your storage and inventory by doing this.

Farm up a nice rolled slayer set. Many build use this one. Farm up each transcendent mod. (400%'s and combine them, or fight the colossus)

Don't forget about the dogs!

Hailey is good, Viessa is good.
Ines is good, Bunny is good.
Lepic you have is good. (I always like to go full on recharge and range on him, for traction grenade, then glass fire cannon for the cold colossus fights)
Serena is good. (also a good VEP choice)
Gley is good (also really popular for VEP)

there is also some specific weapon that are great for VEP, you mentioned you already have a Abion Calvary Gun, and gregs, farm up a serena, max out them weapons, and have at it.

If you play Ajax alot, you can also refil players shields with him, don't be afraid to help VEP players, or even Kyle, or enzo to keep players with ammo, and crits.

There are many many great ones out there. Don't limit yourself to just one descendant. It can be a liability in the long run. They all are actually pretty good. Just have different uses.

Make sure to always have a catalyst crafting at all times. That will mean farming up the materials. 400% runs are great for xp, and don't forget about special ops. You'll need those shards for reactors.

Basically eventually you will have a built out descendant for each scenario. Bossing, and mobbing, or support. Don't be afraid to look up specific builds for specific encounters.

Stock pile your gold and kuiper, you'll need it.

Farm, farm, and farm again. xD Key thing is just do what you enjoy. You'll get there!

It sounds like you should read some beginner guides and watch some videos just to make sure you're on a solid foundation.
There are probably tons of little details you missed and other people take for granted so they won't even think of telling you.
I'm assuming you've played through the main story on normal.
And you need to farm better Ultimate Weapons.
From what you wrote, Freyna is a top mobber,
but she pays by being a bad bosser.
Others will probably say things like 'Venom Injection',
I don't like the idea of being on 1HP, and 15k shields.
ANd that is even if you have her Venom Injection Transcendant.

You are trying to take on Tormentor with Freyna?
That is fairly ambitious, Gley, Serena and others can do it,
but unless you happen to have a top Freyna build, I wouldn't even try it.

Hailey might have a go, and might be able to two shot him.
This is important, because you want to down him fast before
he covers the field with light rays. Everyone tries to one phase him,
because you will probably die, everyone will, in extended fights.

Edit: forgot to mention. The only reason why Hailey and gang can 'ave a go, is due to Core X weapons they can get their hands on. And Hailey and Gley are gun descendants, and can buff their guns. Serena is a sort of hybrid, and she can fly, er - fall that is.
Current meta is guns are more powerful than skills, due to weapon cores specifically. I dunno how many you have, and core binders, disruptors and amplifiers

Good Luck, Descendant - Descendant Instructor, probably. And remember Overwhelming power is the way. IE, it's an RPG, do you have the stats?
