Photon Imprinter

Photon imprinter was supposed to allow you to convert a regular Descendant into its improved version, but it doesn't work. On YT, one player supposedly described how it works, but I didn't understand what he was saying at all. In the game itself, it says for each character that has a better version that I don't have that better version, so I can't convert the regular one. What's that about?

The imprinter only transfers your catalyst polarities and the capacity of the energy activator from the normal version of a descendant to its Ultimate version. You need to have both the normal and the ultimate version to do the transfer via the imprinter.

it turns out that either I have the item description translated incorrectly into my native language, or it is simply described incorrectly.
