Stuck on 'Connecting'
Have tried to get on a few times this morning, but each time the game gets to the 'press enter screen' and just says, "Connecting...". When I close the game it bricks my computer and I have to do a hard power off (hold down power button) to get any functionality back.

Obviously this isn't the game crashing issue. Can't get into the task manager once this happens either. Assuming it's just eating all my RAM since nothing else will run? Ran a Windows 11 update yesterday and not sure if that's the root cause although the game worked yesterday after the update.

That literally just happened to me as well. I couldn't open task manager, pressed all buttons on my keyboard, waited a few minutes and went nowhere. Even my mouse wasn't moving. SO I HAD TO DO A HARD POWER OFF. I also checked my pc software for updates and NADA.... D: anyone plz help T^T

How much RAM you have? 8 Gb?
This game eat 10 Gb of RAM usually and the rest is Windows + apps. After Win update OS can still run additional services later. So your PC may freeze during this time.

I get this too. Now the game just won't show the main menu and I have to use the task manager to shut the game down. I've tried to verify the files but still nothing.

It isn't about how much RAM they got. At least one of them already has 159 hours on it and I'm betting the other guy has plenty of hours as well.

Instead of pressing power button to turn off your computer or hard reset , I had this happen yesterday also, this is what i did. I pressed ctrl alt delete , bring up the task manager and you will see first descendant, kill process, you will be back at your desktop , restart computer, restart steam , restart game.

I've got plenty of RAM (have 32 or 64 can't remember).

Yeah... like I said in my original post above, I can't bring up the task manager when this has happened.

Guess on the upside seems others are having this issue. I'm not running an Intel chip like I've seen in other posts about the game crashing (though I still have the crashes occasionally). Just didn't know if anyone knew anything about what was going on.

The game just froze my entire pc. because I tried to bail out when it failed to connect. Literaly had to hard reset. Freaked out, thought it was something more serious. Checked for SSD's performance, windows says it's fine. So... wat just happened...?
+1, I've started having this same issue the last several days as well. I also cannot "access" task manager when pressing CTRL+ALT+DELETE, and ALT+F4 doesn't work as well.

I'm seeing a few people in here say they can get to task manager.. out of curiosity, what is your display setting for TFD.. is it "borderless" or "windowed"? Mine has been on Fullscreen, and i'm wondering if that's part of what's preventing me from getting to task manager when the game hangs up (even though it shouldnt, alt tabbing should work in theory but doesn't).

This happened to me too. It seems they did something to the game engine/grafics which causes your card to crash, which freezes everything. But not sure if its an error from TFD or the Steam Overlay.

Try disabling the Steam Overlay in the game properties and the go into the M1 folder in your User/Appdata/Local and rename the "Saved" file there to something like "Saved old".

This will reset your settings for TFD and you will have to click the tutorials away again, but the game should run then.

Also try to keep the grafics settings to "High" as a max for now.
