Keelan... He can be fast and kill group of mobs, but... I think he is fine, just don't expect be as good as the Hot Cake Trio.
Jayber is not the best damage dealer, but at boss and defense missions, he can make a difference by diverting the attention toward his turrets.
Since I'm being playing since the beginning, many things changed, and unlocked all, I can't tell which one will the hardest to get.
I think will be less annoying than at the beginning.
Keelan is seen rarely, his Special Resource bar is wonky and without it you cannot use the Ultimate, he prefers being in groups of enemies for ability use in addition to guns
Few people make him work
Jayber is actually useful despite what Reddit says, he is just a bit complex and has a few ways to use him but this means you have to invest time learning, getting the right red mod to drop and deciding which way you want to play him
Yujin is the one Descendant I have not tried so cannot comment on except he is the only true healer in game while I hear he has a few issues
All 3 are rarely seen, Yujin I would say is the hardest to build
But Yujin is needed for coop missions against Abyss Colossi and, probably, Death Stalker. He is real coop character.
If you have access to void vessel normal mode, you can grind for keelan pretty easily. Jayber and yujin can be farmed earlier I think.
My advice would be: just play the character you like most while you can. For later endgame content you will need specific characters, but you will need at least 100 hours of playtime until you arrive at that stage.
He is quite difficult to play. You have to think how you play him.
That's why I only mastered him then didn't play him any more.
Yujin is the best of the 3 but even then is bad he is able to heal like a pro but if you need a healer the team is not good enough for the content you are playing.
Jayber is to slow and clunky and deals meh damage and meh healing.
Keelan like Jay slow and clunky could be a powerhouse when fixed but till then not worth it.
Overall there not worth farming or using right now.
IF you just have to play the worst then i think Jayber as why the other two are rare and not seen much both are more common than Jayber.
But yeah ur right ofc, in the long run they sadly all kinda ♥♥♥♥ ...
Whose the best among the 3 - Yujin and probably the best if you are a new players learning the ropes , groups won;t mind having you
Bunny
Freyna
Sharen
Balir
Try all 4, keep the ones you like
Their parts are gotten easier and a bit differently than others, the 3 purple parts do not have to be crafted thus saving gold you have to spend on other Descendants
If OP is thinking of using the free Descendant token from the ongoing event, yeah that is different
Jayber is not that bad despite Reddit users massive dislike
After I did tutorial with Ajax, I got Jayber from an event and used him almost the whole campaign and for some time after in Hard mode, did not have much of a problem
Partly because Jayber is meant to not shine in healing or damage and is not really new player friendly, I could run him because I know how to run a mixed use character from other games with that type
I think he wants to buy one.
Yujin if you wanna be a heal ♥♥♥♥♥ with no damage capabilities, useful really only in Colossi fights and thats if you dont have a good Ajax in it already, or a Serena that can do 6x your dps and heal people at the same time too.
Keelan if you want to be constantly reminded that Freya does alot of what you do better, and that his girlfriend Ines is currently the mobbing meta, also capable of doing everything you do but better, except for moving across the map, bout the only thing hes good for.
Jayber if you want to be part of the meme club along with Kyle, Esiemo, Somewhat Lepic, and ofc Blair.
You are welcome.
As Yujin I actually thrive in the current meta. Ever since we got Serena nobody expects me to do any damage whatsoever anymore, so I slapped on all the "outcoming damage -%" modules which in return offer tons of healing and tankiness. End result is a character as tanky as Ajax but who can also fully heal himself on demand. Crazy. People bow to me after Tormentor fights so much I get uncomfortable.
Was that hard to build? Well, I dunno. With Yujin, the difficult part is embracing this mindset that you're not the main character. You get everything done in pugs and you let other people do stuff. You're just there to make sure the run goes smoothly. If I had a dollar for every overly ambitious Gley or Serena who went down in VEP 30...
Yujin is most beneficial to underbuilt rag-tag groups who would not make it otherwise. Whereas Luna is a "win more" character in that she works best when her buffs are slapped on top of an already ridiculously OP character.
Now, Ajax, I've only started building him, and so far he feels a lot like my Yujin without heals. Like, I've gone all in on hp recovery modifier and right now get like +86% to hp from red orbs and heals, but the fact I still have to go out there and look for them (and they might not be around) means I can no longer flex by facetanking Pattern Elias without even attempting to dodge. Barriers eat up some attacks, sure, but not all of them. And Ajax is not really a true tank because taunt mechanics are not there. Jumping in to clear mobs off a surrounded Gley in Sigma feels satisfying, but that's rather niche.
So I mostly invested into all those support characters because I'm stubborn and against better judgment, and perhaps hoping the next balance pass is gonna put them in a better spot than they are right now.
This.
Seeing as OP is a new player:
Go for Blair.
He's easy to get and Fire skills are necessary for some Battle Pass missions and reactors.
Edit:
Disregard this if you're meaning to buy one with the crate.
