In the beginning, you did not have to pay void shards if you did not activate the terminal.
Do not know in which particular patch they changed that.
However, now even attacking an enemy without activating the terminal deducts void shards.
I wonder what happens if you do not have any void shards and you decide to still participate in a Void Fusion Reactor mission.
Have not really tried myself, surely you are not going to get in a void shard debt?
Prior was a exploit so it was fixed. Now the moment you hit someones summoned boss, it deducts shards if you have any to allow you to open the reactor upon death.
If you do not have shards, you can still help kill but wont be able to use the reactor at the end.
There is literally an object you can interact with. It is even in the current system that you can't interact with it if you do not have enough shards.
If they are so nervous about the loot bosses drop when defeated, then just implement this loot into the device. You can have your random loot when you interact with it, your shards get taken, everyone is happy.
Now the thing is the same as other people said back then.
You are punished because you try to help to others.
This is getting extremely frustrating.
TLDR: Void fusion reactors will be changed to only consume void fragments on interacting with the reconstruction device.
This change will come with season 1 or 2 (probably 1)
You get a system message saying you don't meet the requirements, or something like that. You also can't open/reshape/whatever a corresponding amorphous material if you have one.
Back then it was also easier to jump on Outpost to Outpost farming Amorphous because it has a 5 minute timer and the jumps reset the Outpost. Pick 3 in the area jump, run, clear repeat the cycle while "leeching" with shards.
I thought this only applies to one reactor where players need to go out of sight and then abandon and come back. I didn't know of this :)
