Is premium currency obtainable for free by playing the game?

I started to play this game today and I'm still learning many things. I saw characters requires premium currency to unlock them and I was wondering if that currency is also obtainable by playing the game or not.

Characters don't require the premium currency to be unlocked. You can farm the characters directly in-game. You can use the premium currency to skip the farming process and unlock them instantly. However, you cannot earn the premium currency by playing the game (except for the battle pass), though.

It is not, however, you do not need it to achieve character's maximum potential. You might eventually run out of character slots as you are given 10 but this should only happen if you spend several hundreds of hours playing the game.
