Armor is there in case you get hit. Not so you can get him. Ask the Viking Beserker at the battle of Stamford Bridge, who managed to hold off an entire Saxon army alone (until getting stabbed from below the bridge by a spear), what he thought about armor.

Your faster without armor and more agile. In a medieval game it makes more sense for a woman to be in a leather miniskirt and crop top than to be in plate. In heavy armor, if your getting hit multiple times, your as good as dead, just as if someone skilled struck a weakspot like the greaves. Certain weapons like the warhammer actually had a hook and narrow head, specifically designed for dealing with someone in plate. But was only used by specialists.
