I regret putting the activator on my descendant and not my weapon

Like us all, i wanted to see what my descendant could do.

This was a mistake

Chuck it on the weapons as youll use them primarily over anything your character can do

1 activator and 2 catas on my tamer and im currently soloing devourer hard mode

Wish id done this sooner

you can run additional DEF / HP % mods or buff your skill damage / cooldown and uptime

I asked for opinions on this in my Post a few minutes ago. Two said they used on Descendant and one said Guns. Now you say guns. My everyday Coop Pal used his two on his Thunder Cage and hasnt looked back. He does insane damage with it, maxed for Crit Rate.
I hope you get good response here. I think the topic is very important to get as many opinions as possible.

i used activator and 3 catalysts on my thunderclap to get dps to 450 - 490k
also had to invest into my character with activator and catalysts to boost survivability

otherwise
using only catalysts would also work
just takes a bit longer to put together

currently building gley which needs activator and may eat 5 - 7 catalysts to get best cooldown / uptime and extra HP / DEF

Hmm the only key modules you must have till late game is a max HP blue and Max def module on your Descendant.

I would suggest upgrading the gun first ineed, get a good one you like though

The thing is Weapon platform builds don't really scale with anything.

Take Valby and her Supply Moisture mod (which adds massive crit chance to weapons). She's really tanky at base so just slap HP, DEF and HP collector on her and she's unkillable. Then you just need the Supply Moisture mod and you're set. 0 investment on that, massive weapon DPS increase.

Meanwhile you can't really make 0 investment weapon do decent DPS.

Sharen sniper build also technically doesn't require any investment. You do need a good sniper rifle though.

You get two Activators by playing through the story on normal mode. I put one on my Ajax and the second into my Tamer.

Its a waste on tamer too. Thunder cage is a much better weapon, better aoe, doesnt slow you down while shooting etc.

Put it on Ajax or Bunny (Ajax is a safer bet), else you're going to wish you had once you start farming hard missions for amorphous and shape stabilizers.

The second one obviously goes into your primary weapon of choice until you get more activators.

You should have 2 activators given for free by the time you finish the story.

I put one on Fallen hope and other the handcannon that reduces defence .
If I get a third I think I'll put it in Freyna or an Ultimate. I thought of tamer but the movement speed is so bad , I don't think I can stomach it.

You'll definitely regret not putting it on your Descendant by the time you get to dead bride.

95% of my kills come from skills, so I think this depends on the player and descendant used. I still don't have any guns upgraded, because they are not my primary way to do damage. I only use them to get blue orbs once in a blue.

Honestly, it isn't a big or bad mistake and might even help later. Later on you need to kill Devourer to progress the story and to even survive, you need a beep ton of resistance and HP, so using it on your descendant is a good thing so you can boost those. If you used it on a weapon, you'd have been going in with a character than only has about half the capacity for modules. Yes, nice gun but the "bipedial operative device" connected to it would end up really squishy.

And no, you can't get a second catalyst, the Devourer step is before the area you need to farm for the last item to make catalysts, so you only got one until you can pass the area.
