We talking about general rounds "white ammo" or the secondary types?
If it's the first, then there's multiple mods that helps you with that
You're either not dealing enough damage for the place you're at, meaning your modules are lacking (both descendant and weapon), or you're not playing aggressivelly enough and hunting the pickups. (or you built your dps entirelly on fire rate rather than damage modifiers; that's a sure way to run out sooner)
2 ways to quickly and easily deal with it:
Stop maining one weapon, you're given 3 weapon options to carry so there's plenty of ammo going around... and there are a few mods that either increase ammo carry capacity or convert ammo from one type to another on pickup, meaning you can main one weapon type without worrying about ammo drop RNG.
Even in Warframe farming frame parts was much quicker. Just a shallow imitation.
Reminds me a lot of Lost Ark.
Use 1 gun with white ammo.
Use 1 gun with orange ammo.
Use 1 gun with green ammo.
So yes that is a major issue early-game. The solution comes mid/late game when you get the modules to fix the issue. You will get mods that increase max ammo supply, and modules that convert ammo for other gun types into your gun's ammo type. So you can pick up yellow/green ammo and it will give you white (common) ammo for example, or any other type you want.
The thing that solved all my ammo problems forever was taking a machinegun for my primary and giving it double magazine size (200 rounds of ammo). A pistol for my secondary weapon and equipping it with max ammo capacity x2 (for 800 max common ammo capacity) and ammo conversion from green to white on it.)
By doing this I can swap to my pistol to pick up any ammo I run across to collect 800 ammo. Then swap back to my machinegun and now I have... 1,000 rounds of ammo. 200 in the gun, and 800 in the reserve, No more ammo problems. Oh and the gun build for the MG uses Focus ultimate, so the more rounds of ammo you fire, the more damage it does, upto 150 rounds stacking, with 200 rounds of ammo... Well... those rounds are doing a LOT of damage.
