How do you change world difficulty fast? [solved]

From the world map, I keep choosing normal and it lets me apply it, but when I reopen the map I'm still stuck in hard mode. It says go to another outpost and in the view menu, you can change it. I'm on PC. TYIA

Update: looks like the moderators removed some of the posts. You can’t hit ESC after you choose modes, you actually need to travel to an outpost once you choose.

Once you go jack, you can't go back...

Are you serious? I just went back to normal at least once before, so they let you do it at lease once. Why even have the menu with the apply option then? Sheeesh!

Heyo, not sure if you ever found this out, but there's a console near the spawn point in Albion. Looks like a globe just to your left. You can go there and change the world tier.
