Tamer is not a good gun
The DPS is good, but it's not that good. The DPS is barely better than the Thundercage that you are given for free, but the tamer slows your movespeed to a crawl. You are going to be eating every bullet coming your way if you use this thing. It's default reload speed is also terrible.

Also, afaik tamer doesn't slow down dodgeroll or jump.

What I like about the Thunder Cage is the AoE, but the reloading sux. Too frequent. And if I improve it, I need to sacrifice damage.
Tamer seems to be better used on bosses.

There are gamers that I call them technical. They bring the numbers and give instructions, usually with edgy builds to maximize something. To be the most effective as possible. I'm not against it, but I really dislike when I feel compeled to play as someone else style, cause the game make things too difficult.

Unfortune a lot of games are balanced like that. Taking in considerations the technical players with their new found metas, and start with nerfs.

the firing fiesta is alright on it. i keep running out of ammo with it, so that helps.

Here's another one for you:

A spreadhseet of all guns in the game. And while Tamer is not in the top 5, nor even top 10 of "Weakpoint crit DPS"(because that's what we should be aiming for, especially on bosses), it's actually on 17th spot among all weapons AND the best of the LMGs too (you can filter out the rest of the classes and check just LMGs - it's at the top).

This game doesn't cater to technical players. It caters to whales. The people who will spend a ton of money to upgrade their gear to crazy levels, then just face tank boss attacks while holding down the trigger.

There is no skill nor technique required. Just pay-to-win. Pay for drop rate boosters, extra capacity and extra mod slot formats. Then pay for weapon rerolls. Then once your paid to be absolutely busted, just hold down the trigger to win.

I think there is a freyna video floating around that shows that off perfectly well.

Or you could... You know... Play the game? Farm all that same stuff for free? Because that's literally what "looter" type of games are (shooters, RPGs or what have you). These games are all about the grind.

Paying and getting that power right away is not pay to win, you just pay to skip the game.

Yeah, and this is a white ammo gun which typically has no right to compete against green/purples.

Actually, it is, by definition, but that is not what this thread is about, so lets not derail with this tangent.

thunder cage is good to clear trash mobs, tamer is good for bosses
Lamiosa Jul 13, 2024 @ 5:03am
I tried devourer in past with a level 53 thunder cage (upgraded version) and 53 tamer with Gley. The tamer was WAY better performing both on hitting the weak spots on distance and getting the healing pots down.
But why should I also take weapon advices from someone who first compares a ultimate smg with a rare machine gun and then 7 posts later says the game does not need skills. Total troll bait.

Thundercage works fine for bosses too, and its DPS is not far behind the tamers, and it also lets you walk out of the way of boss's attack while continuing to attack.
